Introduction

For all those wondering where i've been, I'm currently married and have little time for this hobby anymore. That said I do plan to release stuff every now and then. [Added 12/11/2013]
My name is Kareef, I currently live in the GA area. I’ve been Editing videos since late 2003, and my first video, Ordinary Day, premiered at Katsucon in Feburary of 2004. What originally made me want to try my hand at making videos was particularly after seeing Kwasek's "A Thousand Miles" at Katsucon, which was the main motivation behind "Ordinary Day". I had so much fun with making Ordinary day, that I just kept going. Ofcourse since then I have met many other talents on the org that also served as Inspiration and sempai’s in the editing world ;p
My main forte seems to be Romance/Sentimental and Dramatic videos, Probably because I like those kind of vids/movies, and so I put my heart and soul more into making them. Ofcourse I like Comedy and fun videos aswell, though I usually don't get too many good ideas for comedy...
My goal as an editor is simple… Make it as close to the vision in my head as possible. If I don’t know how to do it, figure out a way ;p Most of the fun for me in creating AMVs is learning something new. If there isn't a challenge to be met in a concept, its usually not as fun for me. I’m always experimenting with different methods of effects usage and editing to recreate what I envision in my head into my videos. I hope you enjoy them as much as I *usually*do making them.

System Specifics and Software Used

My Current Computer for making AMVs:
Primary: Athlon64 x2 4800+ (2400Mhz 929) on Asus ATI Chipset, (ATI x1960 graphics 512MB) 1024 MB DDR OCZ plat rev2 memory, Samsung 200, 250, and 320 GB hds, 2x Samsung 18x DVD+-RW drives
Secondary: Athlon 64 3000+ (1800Mhz 929 socket) on MSI Neo4 Platinum [Nforce4 Chipset], 1024MB DDR plat rev2 memory, Geforce 6600 GT PCI-E Graphics, 160GB WD SATA HD 8MB cache, 300GB Samsung SATA2 8mb cache, External Samsung 160 GB, Samsung DVD+-RW 16x DL drive (x2).
Third: Athlon PC, can;t realy remember specs, older system. Moslty used for network storage and other stuff.
Laptop: Turion 64 3400+ 512MB ram, 80GB HD. Compaq Presario line.
Programs Used in my AMVs:
Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop CS2, Gimp 2.5, DVD Decriptor, DGIndex, AviSynth 2.5x, VirtualdubMod, Beesweet lite, Megui, and winamp5 for sound track ripping.
Codecs used: H264, Xvid, Mpeg2, Lame MP3, AAC, Huffyuv and Picvideo MJPEG for editing and exporting. ffdshow for everything else.
** As of "Zetsumo", all my videos will be released in H264 on local, with an Xvid variant available for slower PCs on a direct or indirect link. A minor video reelase such as an IC video may just be released in either H264 or Xvid on Local only.
TO PLAY H264 ENCODED VIDEOS IN THE .MP4 CONTAINER:
Is easy, just download the latest CCCP codec pack at the cccp project page Or download the latest VLC player to play it natively without installing codecs.
I use the MEGUI package with the HQ-Insane profile to encode all my H264 encoded movies. I use bitrates between 1200-1800 depending on the source material and what gives me the best quality to size ratio.
Backup systems:
Compaq Presario 2100 laptop (1300 Mhz Celeron, 256 MB ram, 40GB HD)
Compaq Turion 3400+ laptop (1800 Mhz Athlon 64, 512 MB Ram, 80GB HD, 1MB l2 cache)

Also, I can't stress this enough, I always love to receive Criticism on my videos. Leave honest opinions weather they are good or bad. This is the best way to really know how the audience reacts to your technique and to find ways to improve yourself. Opinions that tell me the user loved the video, but also points out things that bothered them are the ones I like to receive the most, Even more than the ones that just have good things to say, since it feels more real that way ;p Especially since I know my videos are not perfect. I will ofcourse try to respond to every opinion I get, but sometimes work and real life delays that, so don't think I am ignoring ya. So Bring it on, I'm ready for it!
