Looking for GMVs

Post by SQ » Wed Feb 01, 2006 10:13 pm

Trying this for a third time. X|

Okay, long story short, I'm one of the video directors for a very small gaming con called TechWood Con. Props to Add and Pilk for getting me into it. After the first year the anime club we were pairing with decided TWC sucked as (Which it didn't) and made their own con - Momocon. So now TWC is only games and Momocon is only anime.

Both are in Atlanta, Georgia.

TWC is Feb 17 - 19, so it's coming up very fast, now. Due to stupid circumstances, I have been put off from selecting GMVs and videos to show during my block until now. I tried to collect some things months in advance, if you remember some of my old threads, but that's not enough.

So I'm asking you guys to pimp your own GMVs or suggest others' good ones to show at the con.

I prefer high quality, or at least bearable quality, as we do have a projection screen. However, the computer we're using(mine) sucks monkeyballs and thus we cannot play huffyuvs or uncompressed videos - so please dear god, don't send those, because I won't show them.

I'd like any game video at all. I don't care if it has anime cutscenes, I don't care if the game is japanese or American, and I don't care if it's hosted on the org or not.

I do not care if it's mindless action, thoughtful comedy, or some drama, romance, etc.

All I request is that there be NO FINAL FANTASY VIDEOS. They're overdone, I already have a bunch, and that was about 90% of what I showed last year, so no more this year. Just games.

Online games are cool, too.

I DO have the Game projects(RVG, SNES, etc) on DVD, so I don't need them. Not sure if I'm going to show them, though, since they're not really focused on the game footage.. Just the song with some game element in it. I'm still thinking about it.

Anyway, please plug away!

If you need a host, here's a long list:
http://www.savefile.com/ [60mb]
http://turboupload.com/ [70mb]
http://getfile.biz/ [50mb]
http://w3001.filefactory.com/ [up to 500mb]
http://sendspace.com/ [1200mb]
http://zupload.com/ [500mb]
http://rapidshare.de [100mb]
http://www.yousendit.com/ [1gb]

My email, if you wish to send it one of these ways, is animetricproductions@gmail.com

Preferred formats would be .mov, .avi, .mpg/mpeg

Thank you guys so much in advance. D:

[Note ot mods: Not a contest, just kind of a ghetto expo showing, so I figured it would be better off here- if not, that's cool.]

If you want your audience to go "OW! My retinas!!!", then bluetrain's Disappointment is the way to go. Simply put, this would be for the effect fans in the audience.

sayde's Influences of Eve got third in the contest I held, so it's definitely a good video.

And...everything else practically is Final Fantasy on my list for GMVs. Wish I could help more, but really good non-FF GMVs are hard to come by these days. Maybe you might consider showing some MADs with game footage? If you like, I can point to a few of those, too.

I'd definitely recommend "The World is Square" by Quiet Cannon.

It has a lot of FF games mixed into it, but it uses actual game footage in a way that I've yet to see in any other videos. Plus, it was his first amv and still remains all around fun to watch. I don't remember how the capture quality was, but I'm guessing it's do-able.

Feel free to use my 'Gratuitous Game Vid'. It's just random villainy action, but the song's different and it's a multi-game vid.

Feel free to use Broken Oath http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... p?v=101593 It's better quaility then the other 8 GMV's ...... however, if you find any of the others decent enough, feel free to use them as there are a few different games represented in our profile.

Thanks for recommending my video, Arigatomina. I was going to offer it, but I figured the video quality might not be so good for displaying at a con. Then I saw the 'No Final Fantasy videos' note and I figured this wouldn't work since at least half of the video is Final Fantasy.

As for other non Final Fantasy game videos (checks AMV\Game sub folder.....most of these are Final Fantasy....well there are a few), I really liked Resident Evil 4 - Die another day, Burning Down !, and Parasite Must Go On (although there's no current download link for that). Also, if you don't mind videos not on this site, this is one I thought was good which I found on the GameTrailers forum. Fantastical.
Final Doom "Amazing things will happen here soon."

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Substance "Everyone knows that it's a dangerous substance."

Quiet Cannon: I don't care if they're on the .org or not, but (from my expierence, anyway) all the other sites have really really BAD videos.

If anyone here has seen the video that's on a site and wants to reccomend it, I trust you guys' judgement, but given my bad expierences, I'm not going to look there myself. ^^;

Downwithpants: I got The Tauren Path from one of the other threads I made a few months a go. Thank you, though. =]

Everyone else:

In the process of downloading them all. Then I get to watch them all. XD
And then I get to show them all(or most of them) at TWC.

On a sidenote, anyone know who "Dark graphics" is, and their opinion of his videos? I found his MGS vids over google video and his site was pretty cool. >_>
