A Meine Liebe amv set to Black Lab's "Keep Myself Awake". Stylish bishonen, pretty scenery, and gaudy effects. Seriously. There's like no motion in this anime aside from eye-blinks and a few swordplay scenes. It's all about the dialogue and drama. I'm not sure how that works in an amv if you haven't seen the series, but it makes it easy to keep the vid mostly spoiler-free.
Be warned that I was experimenting with Premiere to spice up the otherwise stationary footage. It was fun. ^_^;

Just to be clear, while I normally adore yaoi/shounen-ai and bishie eye candy, I tried to watch this anime and HATED it. It was just so boring! The characters had all the personality of plywood. Come to think of it, that's probably not an insult. I would be saying that they have layers. So, uh, scratch that. o_O Anyway...
It is you, and I love your work, so I wanted to give this a chance.
Honestly, I think you did a really good job of putting motion into an anime with a whole lot of nothing in that department. Your beat sync - particularly for the background pictures - was right on. For storytelling... I can't really speak for that. I didn't watch enough of the anime to understand the characters well, and you seemed to be focusing on a number of them. So, I didn't get much out of that. Use of effects, even though it was basically the same effect many times, was good.
My one complaint: the aspect ratio. It looks... off. The characters look elongated. Maybe that's just from me watching the wide faces of Tsubasa characters for the last however-many hours.
Overall, this was a very good video. It still doesn't make me want to start watching the anime again, mind you, but it makes a damn good argument for it. Nice work, Ari. ^_^

Thanks for watching! The vid makes all sorts of sense to me, so hopefully that means it would have worked if other people knew and liked the characters. I found a little forum with people who actually like the anime as much as I do, but I don't think they watch amvs. I'll probably be alone with this one. I'm glad you liked the border. It was totally weird to do. ^.^; And gaudy. And completely me. It makes me glad a helpful guy tipped me off on where to find Premiere's keyframes. Who'd have thought they were a click away. I'm so technologically challenged. ;p*inverse* wrote:While I think this might have been a little more enjoyable for those who have seen the anime, I really liked the bishie eye-candy and the pretty borders ^_^
Probably not. It's really frickin slow. ^_^;; I mean that seriously. I was scanning one episode for clips and I think I went through almost the entire episode before I found a scene of the guy turning his head while he talked. I really like the characters, but I ended up feeling sorry for the animators. They draw pretty, but they didn't bother with much actual animation. And it's a long series - two seasons. So...I *wish* more people would watch it, but I can't see most sitting through it.Maybe I should check out this series?

Did you know it was based off a dating sims game? A het game, even. And there's a manga that bases the story around how they all end up in love with the blonde girl (a Fruits Basket Tohru sort of character, who I don't think was even named in the anime). Someone just screwed up trying to put the characters into an animated series - they left out the 'animated' part. I ended up watching the second season first, so that's probably why I stuck with it. There's more 'action' - and I laugh - in the second arc. ^_^;dj_ultima_the_great wrote:Just to be clear, while I normally adore yaoi/shounen-ai and bishie eye candy, I tried to watch this anime and HATED it. That's basically why I used the series, because I didn't think anyone would have watched it all or used it in an amv. I'd originally tried to do an action video - the idea of making a very boring anime look 'cool'. But I couldn't pull it off. So I used it as a testdummy for this song instead. I really wanted to have at least one Meine Liebe vid.
...I changed the aspect ratio. I should learn how to add borders to make footage 720x480 instead of stretching. I'm a very bad girl. o.o
Any suggestions on what to change with that? I want to use the song with a different anime, but I don't do 'effect vids'. I got stuck on 'way too much going on' vs 'not enough going on'.Use of effects, even though it was basically the same effect many times, was good.
Thanks for giving it a try, especially since you recognized the anime. Really makes me wish I could have pulled off the action vid, though. If I could actually make this show look cool it would be a major accomplishment. ^_^;; I was doomed from the start. I got 30 seconds in and ran out of motion clips.Overall, this was a very good video.
