This was very very good indeed.
Thank you for such an uplifting AMV!
Your work has inspired me to try an emotional amv of my own.

I mean the part with her lyp synching to the first verse. It just seemed that something that was obvious to do and expected, and it didn't really tie in to anything else in my opinion.silver_moon wrote:Out of curiosity, do you mean the very first scene in the vid? What was cheesy about it?Moonlight Soldier wrote:I don't know, that first scene with Yuna was pretty cheesy

I'm glad people are finding it inspirational. The song was definitely what inspired me to make this in the first place, and it also inspired me to work my hardest on the video.
Yeah, I kinda see what you mean with that scene... it was the only spot in the whole video I did lipsyncing...Moonlight Soldier wrote:I mean the part with her lyp synching to the first verse. (Just to let you know, I'm in a pretty bad mood right now AND I just QC'd some crappy videos, so I apologize if this sounds a little harsher than normal, silver.)
Okay, let's just do a postive and negative point by point:
(+) a few seconds of black at the beginning
(+ -) editing at the beginning (before the title) and the editing at the end. The parts where you meshed all of the anime together worked the best, but the verses where they were chunked seemed...well, chunky. If that makes sense...
(-) title within the video. It's a pet peeve of mine. I hate seeing the title of the video interposed with the video itself. It's distracting and breaks the flow of the video. You had sufficient credits at the end, so a title in the middle wasn't necessary.
(-) using videogame footage with anime. Another peeve of mine. Only true anime styled games (ie: Chrono Trigger) ever work with game footage. The same would be true if you had used one of the REALLY heavily CG'd anime with the rest of them. They just don't mix well.
(+) song choice. I could see how this really worked with the anime you used, particularly Angelic Layer.
(+ -) Yuna singing. It was well-edited, but it was just SO predictable. Oh, and a question. Did her mouth movements actually work out correctly on their own or did you have to alter it yourself?
Another good one from you, but not something I'd list among my favorites of yours. So, overall, well done, silver.

Usually I would agree with this but I think that they do seem to mix very well in this particular AMV.dj_ultima_the_great wrote: (-) using videogame footage with anime. ... They just don't mix well.

to me it fit... even though the animation is different... Like the mood and everything was perfect, so it kinda balanced out I think.

Seems like some people don't like the CG scenes being in the vid, while others do... A lot of the time, I don't like it when live action/CG is incorporated into an anime vid either, but when the moods and imagery of the other footage is similar to those of the anime, I think it fits. An example is MeriC's Memory that used both the Sailor Moon series and the live-action Sailor Moon, which I think worked out pretty well. And I felt FFX worked for this vid because it had pretty, bright imagery like the other scenes did, and I thought it conveyed the right emotions.

The mouth movements kind of worked out correctly on their own, but I messed around a lot with speed of the clips to get it to be more accurate (which I tried not to make too noticeable, but you might still notice that the rain speeds up and slows down during some parts.)

Nah, didn't sound harsh to me. I thought it was constructive, don't worry.dj_ultima_the_great wrote:(Just to let you know, I'm in a pretty bad mood right now AND I just QC'd some crappy videos, so I apologize if this sounds a little harsher than normal, silver.)

Chunky as in choppy editing? Or do you mean you were expecting to see something else other than the one source during those parts?dj_ultima_the_great wrote:(+ -) editing at the beginning (before the title) and the editing at the end. Yeah, I debated for a while on whether or not to put the title in. There was kind of a "break" in the music at that part, so I wasn't entirely sure what I should do with it. It just seemed like a good spot to put a title.dj_ultima_the_great wrote:title within the video. It's a pet peeve of mine.

I know a lot of people lipsync Yuna's singing scenes in their vids... well what can I say? I'm not the most original editor sometimes.dj_ultima_the_great wrote:(+ -) Yuna singing. Making the video emotional was exactly what I was trying to do.devilmaykickass wrote:I cried.
