Immoral Opinions

Post by Dave_911 » Thu Dec 23, 2004 9:36 pm

ok i looked around to make sure no one had done this topic or the answer wasnt right under my nose, but im not soo good at looking so if this has been asked before, forgive me and lock it

I see a lot of people who give their own vids straight tens to inflate their vids averages...is there a rule against it, and if not, why not? i see it as immoral and unfair

Theres no rules against it i believe,
But you can believe that it is immoral and wrong and I do as well. But if they want to do something like this to secure themselves fair enough. And if they want to rate their video so its like "The Shit" although its not, and brag thats fine with me as well because they usually get their heads chewed off.

It is up to one to decide what he/she wants to do. He/she can rate it accordingly and show a real mark close to what he/she has accomplished or he/she can be stupid and give 10s. Granted if he/she believes they have earned it we can not say much to change their opinions before a topic becomes constant flaming from both sides

So yes people do it, *I think*

But in the end if it makes them feel better at the end of the day its their call. However I personally disagree with straight 10s, if i were to grade myself i would do it accordingly.

If they can justify why they gave their own video all tens then I don't have a problem with it. Giving an opinion to your own video is sometimes a good thing to do as long as your honest. It lets others know what you thought of your own video.

My views of my latest vid tend to change a few hundred times between it beigna concept, and a month or two after its bein released. its stupid to Op your own vid, and its realy sad when people do so to give thier vid a higher score.

Exactly. I really liked my own vid, therefore I opped it. If there were a thing called "ethic" or "morals" on the Internet then we'd all be sinners and thrown in the deepest pits of WebHell :o. IMO Opping your own vid isn't immoral. If Phade or some other admins think it is then they should disable the members to op. their own videos. I don't see why this hadn't been done earlier.

I'll just repeat what others have said. If you honestly think your vid deserves all 10's then by God do so. But, if you see another vid thats got under 10's and its better than your own video, you were probably wrong in giving it all 10's. Now if I see a vid that the editor gave it all 10's and its a DBZ LP vid and is crap, then it is pretty safe to assume what's going on... BUT, I think it's good to give your vid and honest op. It allows people to see/read what you thought about your own vid; what you liked, didn't like, what was hard to work in, what seemed to flow like water, why you think the anime/song work well, and some things that you think should be changed. I mean, i may do that, and op one of my own videos like it wasn't mine. That way, it's an honest op.... Hmmm.... never thought to do it...

P.S. - Sorry about the randomness of some of this post.... its early, goodnight.

Very good point there.

Although I don't think there would ever come a day I would give myself an op... (and respond back to it too >_>)

the worst critic is yourself

Post by Kilakion » Fri Dec 24, 2004 2:25 pm

its nothing bad, your probably the worst critic to your own work and you probably tak in your thoughts into greater consideration of your own work more so than any other person for amvs etc. so i do highly agree that people should have the privledge to rate their own works, for i believe they're their strongest critic of all things. especially over their own works
keep up the good work amv people ~_^
