Free 'simple' reviews (see first post for limits)

Post by Arigatomina » Fri Sep 24, 2004 6:27 pm

I'm not promising a breakdown, or extensive pointers for timing of cuts, so if you're wanting help with base editing...you'll probably be disappointed. I've avoided reviews for some time now, so be warned ahead of time that I'm not going to pick a video apart and be anal unless the mood strikes me. This is more a 'free feedback' offer, than a 'critical review' offer. Still, free is nice, right?

Limits:

1) The video must feature at least one male character. I'll take action/comedy/drama/romance - so long as it has a guy playing the main role in the vid. I prefer bishonen, but he doesn't have to be cute, just male.

2) If you use the Kenshin ovas, I will only watch videos that do *not* show Kenshin's wife. I severely dislike scenes with her, so if you sneak a vid in and I accidentally watch it, the review will be...unpleasant. The same goes for the infamous 'death scene' (Kenshin and Kaoru) - I don't want to see that, so if it's in your vid, don't ask me to watch it.

3) If it's a DBZ video, I'll watch any that feature Vegeta or Trunks (or a minor character like Piccolo or Kaoshin). I don't want to download any more Goku/Gohan/Goten/Son videos unless they're comedy vids.

4) If it's an Inuyasha video, I'm not interested in watching another Inuyasha/Kagome/Kikyo romance. Action, drama, comedy are all fine.

5) No Grave of the Fireflies videos.

6) Know ahead of time that the more I like a video, the more detail I'll go into with the review. So if you know me and think I'll like the vid, toss it my way - even if it doesn't follow the rules above.

7) If I promised you a free review in a past thread, you can remind me here. Just keep in mind that I'm sick of doing timeframe analistic breakdowns - if you want an expert at cutting on the right beat, I'm not the one to ask.

*If this thread gets large, I'm not promising to review them all. After a while, I'll just review the ones I have something to say about.

**Don't review one of my vids hoping to make me review yours quicker. I'm on dial-up, work fulltime, and write a lot. You can review mine if you like, but it won't make my fingers type any quicker than they do naturally.

***If you know of a video (aside from your own) that you think I'll like, feel free to recommend it.

I'd like some feedback on this video, if you wouldn't mind. I know it's not new (and that the lip-sync isn't all it could be), and I know it's got quite a few ops already, but I love to hear what people think of this one more than any of my others:

The Nights Will See Them Through

Thanks!

I've reviewed about 500 vids in the last year, with a 900+ word count. That's a lot of words. I tend to take reviewing seriously (it's time consuming), so yeah...I'm a little picky. ^_^;

I agree with you. That's why my ops now are like yours and bakadeshi with technical breakdowns/ reasoning and everything else you could think of. Usually they are around 500-1,000 + words depending on the length of the amv.

Hey, could you do the one in my sig. I'd appreiciate it! Thanks.

BTW, it's a Trigun Video. I centered on Vash. That's within your limits, right?

Well dang, my latest IS a Goku vid. I usually do Vegeta videos, but I thought I would try Goku for a change. Figures that is NOT what you would want.

BUT, I do have some Vegeta vids.

Well, this one is a cheat. It's about Vegeta/King Vegeta, and is called the Hall of the Saiya-jin King.

And this is a Vegeta video done to "Hair of the Dog" by Nazareth

This one I'm thinking of redoing because I got my hands on some much better clips, but we shall see!

But if you are curious my latest vids which are much better, are in my sig.

Give one a spin. I don't mind which.
