I read through this entire topic and saw not one single bit of constructive criticism. I know many talented editors who got their starts doing (SUPRIZE!) random action dbz vids for fun. All of you, with a few exceptions (mainly Arig) have not been in the least bit helpful. Did any of you even WATCH any of his videos? Maybe they're actually semi-decent dbz vids? WOWZER! Anyways, I'm just pissy right now because avisynth is being evil.

Agreed. I withdraw my smartass comment from the previous page, and apologize.flint_the_dwarf wrote:He's got just about the best rants this forum has to offer. Amen... I'm sure this person is only making vids for himself only however which is fine. What I'm hoping NOT to hear is that he only gets comments that say vids suck and THEN HE complains about them...Arigatomyna wrote:^_^
I know at least three people who joined after I did - all of them starting out with the odd low quality dbz vids, and I've had the pleasure of watching each improve. If I ever get caught up with things, I'll review your vids. There's nothing better than having someone go through your profile and point out patterns to you. And I don't mean anime choice.![]()
It's no wonder the 'old' editors stopped making dbz vids - this is the reaction you get, even without watching them.![]()
[And a few tips I can give without watching, count when you first plan out the video - count the steady beats. And practice making cuts (clip changes) that fall on those beats. If you're using dbz, don't use those scenes that last for 10+ seconds and have random flurries of blows - use the distinct separate hits and match them up so the blows fall just as the music hits the beat (cutting the clips in the middle of a punch/etc will give you this). If you're having quality issues, convert your footage into avi and run it through VirtualDub - the 'smooth' filter, and the cropping tool will probably help. If you're spending 1-3 hrs on a vid, I doubt the action sync has been planned out very well - do your planning before you begin, find a rhythm you want to emphasize and make your cuts to match. And practice. Anything else I might say would depend on how you're making the vid.]

If "conforming" means what I think it means, then that sentence made perfect sence.OmniStrata wrote: He will get cooked if he's expecting something massive. As far as editing goes, everyone's different but conforming is a problem [yes, I'm not supposed to be making any sense ^_^]
Ah, but be careful with advice like that. If you're going to put the vids up here, it means you want to share them. So you have to have at least one other person who will *also* be 'wowed.' If you're easy to please, it may not take much to wow yourself - and that's fine. But don't share the vids unless you think someone else might also get that 'cool vid' reaction. Even if it's only one or two people, that's fine, just so long as it isn't just you - there's no point sharing if you're the only person who will enjoy the vid (you can still make them, but no point uploading them.)OmniStrata wrote:my start was: wow the audience...
