Re: Eidolon
ha! neat! liked it! there were moments where i think author could do better (camera falling down/detailed L&R audio syncing) but that's because i'm an asshole, yet still its impressive enough for me.
By the way I'm curious about audio(mixing/composing?) and credits animation (cinema4D? or just AE?).

I think this is the only video I've seen that I'll be keeping the beta because it was so good and deleting the final video because it was not.

The VPE section took by far the longest. Both setting up and rendering, where as the credits only took long rendering.ExSphere wrote:I feel as if you spent more time on the credits than the middle segment that has been empty for 2 years.
Still stands strong to this day though. Glad to see you finally got it done.

However...you'll never be good enough to get into AX![]()
Bravo mang.
Chris, post the picture.
Not going to waste my breathe on AX.
Chris? Picture? I'm scared.
To be fair the old beta's contained a black space in the middle. I'm sure everything would've been an improvement over that. As for the credits, I'd argue that they're not mind bogglingly simple as to my knowledge nobody else has come up with something similar to this point. From a technical standpoint I'll say that once you wrap your head around it and understand how it works it's not nearly as complicated as one might think yes. And if it didn't take so long to render I'm sure I can easily recreate it in a day from scratch.JCD wrote:I was going to troll with some comment like "You barely edited anything", but in the end you managed to make it look advanced even for persons not into compositing. Nice.I especially like the changes you made in the middle compared to the several years old betas.
I've seen his project file of the credits, it's mind-bogglingly simple. In terms of work involved, it can be easily replicated in a day if you know how.ExSphere wrote:I feel as if you spent more time on the credits than the middle segment that has been empty for 2 years.
I like my video's how I like my women.Milk Or Life! wrote:Weird, but nice![]()
Too bad it's kinda short ,but that's okay
Short, weird and nice.
I'd argue against the troll allegations, at a certain point beta's started floating around without me knowing about it. This caused a lot of people who weren't supposed to see it to be exposed to the video at a very early stage. Needless to say this caused all sort of rumors and stories to pop up about it. Despite all those stories I can assure you that trolling was the last thing on my mind.NS wrote:^Ingow wrote:biggest troll in amv history

And people think I'm a lot taller IRL as well. Initial drafts of the video contained pure hard cuts and to me personally those made the video very static at the time. I'd also like to think that the fades fit well within the context of Katherine's situation at that time in the video. But I of course respect your opinion.Enigma wrote:I expected it to be something a bit longer, but worked alright for what it was. The black fades ruined the mood for me to some extent tbh tho.

I find the phrase too short to be subjective in this case. While I can understand that people would like more somehow. Calling it too short would imply that is a obvious way for me to lengthen the video which I then ignored. However with this not being the case I'm just going to sum it up as people wanting more rather then it being too short.Minimoto wrote:Nice but I agree on the consensus too short want more.
I'm not a fan of spoon feeding clear cookie cutter narrative to the viewer. But I can understand that that may leave some somewhat confused about the actual story of the video that I tried to portray. I'd highly recommend reading the comments in the video description for a better understanding of what I was trying to do with the hand off narrative.NME wrote:The credit sequence was far more interesting and visually stimulating than anything you composited together in the video IMO. As a casual observer I pieced together some sort of narrative of my own with the characters depicted but there is very very little to go on for concrete meaning. Perhaps I should have read the comments.
You worked on this for a while, abandoned it and then came back to it and tacked on some credits and it shows. You are capable of so much more!
C-
VPE [Vanishing Point] aka fall over section was actually done last. The credits were build back in 2008 already, I only recently re-synced them and added 2 lines of text. That being said, I agree that I'm capable of far more. It's just that being burned out on a project wears you out. Especially if said project is all people associate you in the community. Initially I wasn't even going to release it as this wasn't the final I had envisioned. But now I can hopefully move on to bigger and better things.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it.Cyber-EG wrote:Wow, I love your way of editing. Short but powerful
I'm sure you'll find something new soon enough.ShadowNOS wrote:Now I've lost my favorite way of trolling you, I am sad.
Being honest doesn't mean you're an asshole. Just putting that out there. Audio wise I composed/mixed additional audio on top of the already reedited song. Which consisted of things like the rain spinning around behind the camera and such. As for the credits, those were done strictly in AE. If enough people ask for it I'll post a flowchart/comp of that later.Maniaki wrote:ha! neat! liked it! there were moments where i think author could do better (camera falling down/detailed L&R audio syncing) but that's because i'm an asshole, yet still its impressive enough for me.

I'm actually somewhat peeved to hear that coming from you Godix. I'd like to hear your reasoning behind that later if you don't mind.godix wrote:I think this is the only video I've seen that I'll be keeping the beta because it was so good and deleting the final video because it was not.

Re: Eidolon
It's because I'm an idiot. I grabbed the breakdown instead of the video and didn't notice the problem. So I was like "What is this multi-panel shit? Where did this crappy ass music come from? What's with the fucking flowchart? This sucks warm jizz through a short straw. I want the nice simple appearance of the beta, dammit!'Niotex wrote:I'm actually somewhat peeved to hear that coming from you Godix. Now that I realized the mistake and grabbed the actual video, it's good. Builds up a mood instead of doing gore splatter like many vids try. Still has everything I liked about the beta. It's too short and seemed to build up to, well, nothing really. But overall I like the atmosphere and withdraw my comments about the beta being better.

Re: Eidolon
Congrats Niotex for completing your video. From your comments, it looks like this vid took you quite a long time. Anyways, I also checked out your Breakdown and it looks like a lot of layers to work with.
I enjoyed your vids and liked that it was short too. It's a good way for us to want more and look forward for your future work.

Re: Eidolon
I remember seeing the beta once 2 years ago at AnimeCon2009. You refused to show me the final 8 month ago (what made me very very sad
) but I still had 2 shots from 2009 in mind so i guess it really impressed me back then.
Like other ppl said its to short and leads nowhere. That being said i really enjoyed it. Audio and video fit each other and give a highly interesting picture. In a world where most MEPs have more creativity and work in their credits than in the tracks you found impressive solution for the credits in this video - i really liked that idea BUT for a 1:10 AMV those credits felt way to long.
Anyway glad i finally could watch it again. You did a great job on this but you also could have been faster with finishing it!

Re: Eidolon
Personally, I never knew anything about Eidolon except that it was something you were working on over a long span of time. I associate you with something a little different, actually.Niotex wrote:It's just that being burned out on a project wears you out. No comments (yet) for the video, since I haven't downloaded it. I may not have any, to be honest, since I can't edit effects for shit and therefore feel that I have very little business critiquing them, but we'll see.
