This was fantastic. However, at the same time, it was REALLY frustrating to watch at points because you chose not to sync to some really prominent beats, like the four strong drum beats right before the second chorus (2:28-2:29) or the drum roll starting at around 3:01. Being that I own this CD and have memorized the song, I expected you to sync to these beats and when you didn't my mind kind of lingered on these points and I found it hard to stay with the video all the time. Also, I wasn't crazy about the abundance of half-transparent overlays, or the one or two times you used a zoom-in transition (looked cheesy, IMO). Oh, and as some have already mentioned, the video quality was slightly disappointing.

Besides these things, I actually found a lot more to enjoy about this video than complain about. The flow was excellent, forgetting for a moment the beat sync issues I mentioned above. Scene selection worked really well and not for a moment did I find the literal sync corny or poorly-implemented - this really, REALLY helped the storytelling aspect of the video, which ended up being the video's strongest point. Also, besides what I mentioned above, the effects you used were really awesome, like the videos in the picture frames, and simple things like slide transitions. Also, the editing from 1:25-1:37 is brilliant, that's probably my favorite part of the video...probably.

This is an easy 4/5, even with all the problems I had with it. Had you paid just a little more attention to beat sync and been more consistent with that throughout the video, I'd have unhesitantly given this a 5/5. This is a great, upbeat, yet slightly depressing video (how many of THOSE can you find?). I love it, and I expect it'll grow on me the more I watch it (and you can bet I'll be watching this a LOT over the next several days).

Very nice work!

Ah, okay, I gotta make a slight amendment to my comments. See, I downloaded the XviD and didn't even think to get the .mp4. Anywho, that version does look nicer for sure, but I still think you overfiltered it a tad.

Just needed to get that out, cuz I really hate mistakenly commenting on things like that when I haven't seen every version available (or at least the best version).

wrong aspect ratio. had some quality issues, and rough edges from what looks like a bad deinterlacing job
(mp4 version. don't know if the avi is any different)

not my kind of video at all. couldn't get into it.

Haha, this song is like the soundtrack for my life. I've always wanted to see this series, video was petty good, but the quality was a big iffy, some good editing but the mix of good and bad lip kinda threw it back a bit. I still liked it though. 3/5.

The beginning was not really interesting - I really got distracted by the fact that it's so overfiltered, plus there were some part (the bed-scenes) that had an extra wave filter over it. The first chorus really looked messy with the overlay/crossfades/flashes/zoomins as if there's no structure there.

The part with the paintings was thought cleverly, but the sudden back-and-forth switching between the paintings and the close-up of the guy at the telephone looked pretty bad. First of all the flow of the cutting and secondly the continuity (he's moving and jumping around and you see his head 3x in the same position). You could've just switched to the guy and leave it at that instead.

But... past that it got better, I really like some of the editing tricks you used. The pushes didn't look cheesy and I like the "3,2,1"-part (probably because that's one of the things I would do myself! :)). Even though I'm not really into literal sync, I think it worked pretty okay here.

Oh, one thing, around 2:46, when the drums suddenly change, the flow of the cutting and the scenes stay the same, which is a shame for the build-up of your flow.

So once you get past the filtering, the pixelated edges it produces and the first chorus, it's enjoyable!

Oh, did I mention I like the song?

Interesting video in the whole, even if some effects aren't really necessary I guess.

Nice job 3,5/5
