2nd AMV - Project WKIBP [Why Can't I Be PRISS!?!]

Post by 808-buma » Sun Nov 20, 2005 2:59 pm

Well, okay, it didn't end up being named that, but WKIBP was the working title for the longest time, I have a hard time thinking of it as being...

AMV Title: Blue Ambition
Source Video: Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040
Source Audio: The Cure - Why Can't I be You

Quick video summary - This originally started out as an entry for SSJ's Big Character Profile Contest but I missed the deadline by about 2-1/2 weeks and I don't even know if it qualifies as a 'character profile' anymore :D . The AMV is structured around the Knight Sabres Linna, Nene and Sylia - each comparing and contrasting their life to that of the blue Knight Sabre, Priss, and lamenting 'Why Can't I Be You' (hence the name of the AMV, Blue Ambition).

Anyway, more info posted on the video information page, if your interested (you can click the link above or in my signature line below). Any and all comments, ops, crits, etc welcome. Thanks in advance for taking a look!

some responses to quick comments:

Um, yes, I admit to this fact. The video did evolve over the course of it's creation and transformed into what it is now (but it does have it's origins as a character profile - just think of it as a character profile with the main character not being in every scene... :) )

um, well, not like I tried to hide the fact that I was using this song - it was clearly labeled as such so I don't know where the surprise would have come from. But I guess that everyone has their own musical tastes. Unfortunately, it sounds like your dislike of the song may have something to do with your dislike of the video. Oh well, thanks for the comment, anyway.

Thanks - I fear that this video will probably only appeal to BGC2040 fans as there are the 4 main and 2 sub characters to deal with and without some prior knowledge of who they are, it may be a rather confusing mess to some non-BGC fans. Seeing from the site, there aren't very many BGC fans, so I wasn't expecting a lot of rave reviews.

anyway, negative or not, thanks all for taking the time to watch and leave a comment for my vid. Hopefully others may follow suit?

Thanks again.

okay, last attempt for someone other than me to respond :)

maybe I should have posted WARNING, SEXUAL NUDITY or DATE RAPE: BLUE AMBITION or something similar in the title instead...

Well, just got my 'official' scrore from SSVJ the other day and considering the this is my second video, I guess a 74% isn't that bad, is it? My biggest hit was on editing - I only got 1 point more than half of the alloted points on this. Seems SSVJ is more of the beatmatch mindset than I was, so I understand where his comment comes from. I am proud that the other scores were more on the high side too, which I guess brought my total up to where it was.

Anyway, I hope a few more people will take a look at this 2nd vid of mine. Thanks in advance to all you folks that have taken a look and especially those of you who have left comments!

I'm gonna have to agree with the anonymous commenter above. Your song selection affects your video in every possible way, especially in the issue of whether liking the anime music video as a whole or not at all. It is very hard to enjoy an anime music video, if you don't like the song, wouldn't you agree?

This place needs more good Bubblegum Crisis 2046 amvs, though...

True on one sense, but not so on the other. I've seen AMV's that I love, such as Castor Troy's Die Another Day; however I am really close to hating the song and I'm no fan of RE either. This doesn't stop me from really liking the video, however. This is the highest score AMV that I've op'ed which ironically is tied with another AMV chambeyc's Appleseed: our new battlefield which I loved both anime and song selection - go figure...

Yes, the music is a critical part of an AMV (well, duh, it's the M in AMV, so...), but just because one doesn't like the song selection doesn't mean the video follows along with that opinion.

but then again, this is my own set of rules that I judge others by when I do ops.
