Videogame Project? (Interest Gauge)
I've been toying with this idea for a while now, and with the very recent overhaul on my computer, I feel more confident throwing the idea out there.
Idea
A project to tribute all of that gorgeous videogame footage and great stories. Any game of Japanese origin (meaning, anything that's .org-able) will be allowed. (Oh, and "Videogame Project" is just the working title. I'll come up with something better/take suggestions. I don't want this confused with the VG Projects.)
Music
Still not sure on this one. I haven't found any long mixes that trip my trigger, so I'm thinking of just letting people use snippets of their own songs (between thirty seconds and a minute and a half, I figure).
Footage
This is a little harder than other projects, because not all games can be ripped - unlike DVDs. Because of this, I'm expecting that anyone who joins will have a working knowledge of Avisynth. If you don't, you have plenty of time to learn. I'm expecting footage to be ripped (refer here for some help) or captured (high quality only). Absolutely NO DOWNLOADED FOOTAGE.
However, I'm not without sympathy here. I've both ripped and captured games, and I know that the latter can be very time-consuming. Let's say you're capturing Kingdom Hearts II, for example. It's a relatively long game, and I know that you're going to need time to get all of the capturing done. Hence, the interest gauge. Assuming I get responses, it'll still be a while before I post an official thread, so this gives any potential capturers time to get their job done or started.
Expectations
I'd like to allow anyone into the project, but please know that I am expecting high quality editing. I don't care if you use After Effects or Windows Movie Maker - you should still be giving me a top notch product with your best effort put into it. I reserve the right to boot anyone from the project that I don't think is giving me that much. I'm very passionate about videogames, so I want something great out of this MEP.
Anywho, seeing as how this is just a interest thread, I'm going to leave it at that. No technical stuff for now (I'll be needing some help on it, anyway). I realize that most people say that you should be a part of a MEP before you head one, but the last three I've tried to join have failed - and I'm getting a little sick of waiting for one that will work.
So, here it is: the Videogame Project thread. Please consider it, and thank you for reading.

Yeah, I´m already into this Mep!!!!!
To Idea:
So you mean You will allow FinalFantasy Resident Evil Silent Hill Devil May Cry Kigdom Hearts and stuff lick that, makes my heart jumping with happines, this Mep will be so fucking great!!!!!
To Music: This is hard, because in most of the other Meps you are bound to the Band, but letting everyone cut down a song for theirself is i think the best solution, or you could just allow to each of the games their own original soundtrack!!!
Footage: This is a bit complicated, but shortly before i saw the thread i found a guide to rip from Ps2. Here´s the link for ripping from PS2 http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... hp?t=29514
count me in for resident evil 4 or devil may cry 3!!!!!!!!!
Expactations: WMM
you kidding???? with high quality editing you mean lossless codecs like huffyuv ,lagarith and stuff
I love this project already, you can also count me in as a co-coordinator, because i wanted to do a mep like this in the near future...
Oh and maybe you could name the project "FMV Project"

So you finally decided to go for it, eh? I'm interested - but only if most or all of my footage could come from Sega Genesis/Super Nintendo games. I've had vague ideas on how to use scenes from games like Sonic 3 or Chrono Trigger for a while, but no reason to actually make a video to them; now I have a possible excuse. I'm not saying yes, even if I am allowed to use those kinds of games, but you've definitely perked my interest, especially because I was convinced I wasn't going to be joining another MEP for a while...
Actually, now that I think about it, I could use scenes from FFVII/FFVIII because I have the PC versions of those games. I'd be loathe to, though, since they're both very oversued sources...might be a good way to give a backdrop to the Genesis/SNES footage, though...
Hmm. My interest has been perker further.

Hmm . . . could be tempting. I may have to keep my Dirge of Cerberus clips clips on my drive for a while longer =3 For music, I like watching MEPs with the same music style, like a power metal project, dance, instrumental, etc. Having too many different song styles in a long MEP can feel out of place and random, less organized, IMO. For video games, maybe instrumental might work the best so editors don't have to worry about lyric synch too much?
I did throw together a 20-minute mix of Immediate Music songs several months ago that may work, but didn't the group make the Org delete the links to some videos using their music a while back?.
