Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Elfen Lied AMV. ^^

Post by Aerialesque » Sun Aug 27, 2006 8:25 pm

This is the first amv I've ever uploaded to this site...but not the first I've ever created. ^^

<a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... 0">'Weight of the World' - Elfen Lied</a>

The song is Weight of the World, by Saliva. Any feedback/critcizm would be greatly appreciated. ;D

Thank you. ^^ I tried to really limit the amount of blood because of the violence rules. And right now I'm just using Windows Movie Maker...unfortunately. Hopefully I can get a better program soon, so I can work on putting more effects in my videos. Thanks for the reply!

You know, this is the kind of Elfen Lied video that I wish I could see more of. It's not particularly violent, and it's not all lovey-dovey. It's a real storytelling AMV, and I enjoy those - especially with a series that doesn't normally have story-oriented videos for it.

However, the story wasn't the only strong point. I was pleased to see some very strong beat sync, and a subtle, but appropriate use of some of the simple effects that WMM has to offer. You do need work on the video quality (Elfen Lied is widescreen, isn't it?), but that's no problem at all. It just takes some reading and patience.

In short, if this is what you have to offer to the site initially, then I'll be happily (and impatiently) waiting to see what you cook up with future videos - particularly if you find that new program that you can be comfortable with.

Great work, and a good first impression. ^_^

Thank you SO much for the review. ^^ I'm really glad that you liked the video...the compliments mean a lot to me, and its good to know that I'm heading in the right direction. And I agree with you that the quality needs work...I was rather lazy when ripping the DVD footage, and I didn't take all the steps I needed to do to make the quality really good. I'll be spending some time reading that faq! ;D

Thanks again! I really appreciate the input. ^^
