-----------------------------

Good evening meatheads,

Today I've something for you - you guessed it, a metal AMV with Berserk.

I think the video is rather self-explanatory; focusing on the core Berserk storyline. It's neither a shameless action video nor an angsty character profile - I'd say it's more a "big picture", and despite the action elements it maintains a rather somber and tragic mood.

I've been thinking of making this video for almost 3 years now, ever since I heard this great cover of ITCOTCK - but I thought it would be a steep technical job, and despite the apparently-simple layout, it was very difficult to work with - first in keeping consistent scene/mood selections; and then in the rather painful frame-by-frame synching of the riff/solo in the middle section. Hopefully the work paid off. It's probably my best work as far as general-interest AMVs go, and I've spent a lot of time and effort on it, in particular the action sync.

I'd like to thank ALL the beta-testers who've helped me quickly get this off the ground and out here. Thanks again guys!

----------------------------

The video is my entry to the (Russian) Cold War AMV contest, a "theme" contest where editors had to make an AMV using a song written before 1992 in about two weeks. I encourage those of you who are interested and aren't afraid to navigate a Russian forum to check out other entries here. If you're eligible to vote (i.e., have been a previously-registred member of their forums) - I highly encourage you to see all the entries and vote on your favorites.

Shameless! Shameless!

This is not usually the type of video I like, but I enjoyed it anyway, somehow. :P Nice job on the midsection there. Even though you hadn't really done this type of action synch before, it turned out great.

The ending still creeps me out, but now I can't help but watch it with some kind of morbid fascination. x__>

By the way, you forgot to mention that the length is only 4:06. We wouldn't want people to start assuming that this is another one of your 7-minute videos now! ;)

 Ending = creepy ;p Surprised you got Japser to watch this
Actually I liked it. particularly the onscreen action synch you did realy well in this. The only thing I could think to complain about is the fact that the pacing is kinda slow to begin with, but there wasn't any change in pace from start to ending, to kinda keep me from loosing interest in the video. This could just be due to the nature of the song though. I started to get distracted towards the middle of the video unknowingly ;p

Yet another video thats reminded me that I still need to check out Berserk >.>

It was kick ass on the first beta, and it kicks royal ass now.

There were a few places that were maybe a frame or two off of synch, but they weren't major enough to detract anything from the entire video, which had a very nice atmosphere to it..

And beyond that, it kicked pure royal ass.

And reminded me that I need to stop being a cheap bastard and go buy Berserk.

Hardkor, especially the fine tuned solo.

You have done well in representing metal in AMVs, my good man, and I salute you.

Oh gawd. What have I done T__T

See above. I didn't. In fact there was a beta called "beta 0.41j", where I purposely removed the last part to spare the Jasper. And evidently failed.

Just curious, what do you mean as pacing?

I certainly understand that the song itself is somewhat evenly structured, but... well, at least from the editor's perspective, there was a huge difference in the pace between sections. The middle 30 seconds took about 5 times longer to edit and the clips there are at least 10 times shorter on average. I was hoping that'd translate into good pace buildup - or is that another kind of pacing?

Thanks for looking at both, eh. "Royal ass" is a compliment to this one indeed

Speaking of Hardkor, I wonder if I have the stomach to ever do that KiSh video after having been so pained with the "Hardkor" action sync here

Danke, danke!

You have credit in this as well, since that conversation we had about the structure of the middle section and the main riff was what pushed me into that re-editing run, and the tightening-up of the editing there hugely contributed to the vid I think.

Thanks all!
