Big Damn Cowboys--A Firefly style tribute

Post by RichLather » Tue May 09, 2006 8:50 pm

Big Damn Cowboys

Runs 1 minute total, XviD 720x480

This is the opening theme and sequence for Firefly recreated with footage from Cowboy Bebop. The structure remains intact, with character portrait overlays, name credits and even the same shot composition, at least as best can be found with Bebop's footage.

Image

Created with After Effects 6.5, Photoshop CS2 and Premiere Pro 1.5.

Hhmmm this has been happening recently. I don't know why. I'll check it out once its up. I'm suprise someone has not done Outlaw Star to Firefly yet. Since Firefly is a rip off of Outlaw Star.

Some sort of glitch. Not sure of the specifics offhand.

Anyway, I saw this at ACen, and loved it. There are more than a few parallels, now that I think about it.

Oh good, it actually made the contest lineup.

Yeah, it appears that a lot of recent uploads had problems and mine is just cuaght up in the bunch. the Site Help forum has several threads on this issue.

And Outlaw Star got ripped off by Firefly? I wholeheartedly disagree, since there are no stolen experimental AI ships or galactic ley lines in Firefly. Anyway, one could argue that both shows ripped off Cowboy Bebop but I don't believe that either.

Heck, at that rate one could say that all of the above ripped off Star Wars' Han Solo and Chewbacca, going back through all of film and television across all cultures, not to mention literature. There was no ripping off as far as I'm concerned.

I haven't seen much Outlaw Star, but I remember reading a thread somewhere complaining about the whole girl in a box thing. :)

Anyway, I'll check this out when it's, um, working.

Interesting. I actually started collecting clips for this concept a couple of months ago, then decided I didn't have the time or motivation to do it justice. It's an excellent matchup of music and anime. And I don't think Outlaw Star would work with this, in part due to the character design which is critical to the style of the Firefly opening.

Will download when it's available.
