None of this has anything to do with what this thread was supposed to be about, but this is a good topic also. So let's talk about this then. Saying that there are people who are good at crawling through the muck isn't a terribly good excuse for those who create the bog.

Of course not, haha... though, completely off topic, this thread might get locked or moved since it's not really belonging in this forum section
The thing is though, the internet is saturated beynd measure with information and things... and it's just getting more and more that way. In reality it's not going to get better, and nobody is really even thinking of making it better...

So basically what you are getting at with that statement is that people should stop making AMVs so that your friend can find regular music videos more easily?

Fat chance that's happening... (funny saying that, you'd expect that having a fat chance means you'll get a big chance)...
With the music industry being ripped off of their millions of dollars because of pirating, it's more a likely thing to happen that the actual normal music videos (which cost significant amounts of money) will end up being even less common than actually AMVs (which cost little to make, relatively speaking).

I don't know what this guy is saying. It seems like he starts making mountains out of molehills.. has to question such insignificant details that most people don't care about.. and then goes into great deal about something as if he cares about every little aspect of every little thing.. then always has to explain himself over and over.. get a few people confused.. and then make a molehill out of a mountain. A very interesting character if I do say so myself.. That's just my observation.. Your looking waay too deep into things arzuro.. But that's just my opinion.. don't take offense to it.[/nonsense rambling]

well, to each his own. The internet isn't suppose to be this easy to use entity that you can instantly find anything you were looking for - its more of a dumping ground that one has to weed thru to find what one was looking for in the first place. I don't think that it will ever be something that one can just enter a single term they are looking for and find it just like that.arzuro wrote:I wanted to show my cousin my new avatar, so I linked him to this forum. The first and only thing he said was
What, anime music videos? Man I hate those things. Whenever I search for music videos I just get dozens of weird anime videos.
I'm sure that there are things that you or your cousin may do in your spare time that I'd bet some of us here would find 'weird' and/or clogs up the internet with useless information for others to go thru trying to find whatever they are looking for. Maybe you play video games, or CCG's, or wargame, or draw, or make topiary or whatever - you'll find there will always be someone who thinks that whatever someone does is just total crap. It all depends on your point of view. To each his own.arzuro wrote:I know this is going to generate some heat since it's me posting, but I think it might be refreshing to hear a total outsider talk about an aspect of amv's people probably don't think about much - and what the heck, this is my first day here, after all, as an active poster. Even though I don't particularily feel like I belong, I can't help but smile a little defiant smile when I think about that comment.
As a side note, I for one have a hard time believing this is just a thinly veiled attack on the A-M-V.org community - but this just might be me or the language thing. I don't know what your goal is by this and your other 'popular' post. I mean, you can:
1) help the community get better by providing opinions or even quick comments on each of these so called 'bad' videos so that you directly let the creator know what you liked or didn't like. This way you make your opinion heard and if you're in the right, maybe someone will actually take your comments to heart and make their next video different.
2) help the community get better by actually making what you consider the 'best AMV evar' and posting it us to show the rest of us how it should really be done
3) write off A-M-V.org as just a low point in your online life and move on as no one is begging you to stay or to go.
I know that maybe you were looking for 'good' videos initially, but I just sort of think that it was a secondary goal... at least that's the way it seems to a lot of us, IMHO but YMMV.

Finding many of arzuro's posts interesting (but not in a lot of ways agreeable) aside, I have to quite agree with 808-buma here. Whether or not you wanted to antagonise people, you're still doing it nonetheless.
'tis just my observations, after following your other thread with quite a bit of interest in watching just how others reacted to it
If your point to begin with is to get attention to yourself, then I tell, job well done

Re: A funny little tidbit
Got to agree with this, along with Infinity Squared's post. What is the point of this thread? On the last page, you first claim that you didn't make this thread because you felt like AMVs should disappear. Then, as staces pointed out, you seemed to imply that they just create a bog, i.e. they should disappear since they're just making it harder to find what you want. Uhh... which is it? And either way, does it really matter? I'm not trying to sound rude, but I don't think anyone here really cares if it becomes harder to find a band's music videos because there are a lot of AMVs. No one considers that factor when they make an AMV (that I know of). If you were just saying that the presence of a lot of AMVs makes finding other types of videos harder as a general comment in passing... fine. Yeah, I suppose that it probably does. But if not... this thread is not really going to change anything. People will keep making them regardless.808-buma wrote: well, to each his own.
