Why is it every time a thread comes up where members discuss a subject, we get half a dozen people spamming it and then calling for locks as if the thread were in the wrong, and not the spammers? Don't like it, don't read it. It's not as if we have an overflow of 'discussion-threads' in the forum. If it really disturbs you to see people discussing something, when you don't think it's important enough to discuss, go gripe about it in your journals. So what if the initial post didn't outline the discussion parameters? The discussion got underway within the first page. There's no excuse to come derailing it just because you don't want other people talking about amvs topics.

I requested locking the thread (and so far, I think I'm the only person to do so) because it's ceased to be a meaningful discussion. As of page 3, it's degenerated into flames and backpedaling. We're now on page 4. What's the point of continuing to discuss it when people are doing nothing but sniping at each other and admitting that the thread is pointless in the first place?

Might as well talk about the topic at hand.
Personally i have found it hard to edit around some lip flap. Now true I could use other clips but they wouldn't have the same effect as different ones. I guess it comes down to the idea, you work with what you have. There's alot of anime's you can work with but like with most other AMV creators on this site, once you have an idea down your set on it and really don't have a mind to majorly change it's layout.
Lip flap does look bad on msot videos and I'd have to say sometimes I look at my own and cringe at all the talking. However I'll look back after than and just think about what I had to work with.
I dunno sometimes you can get around it while at others it's almost impossible to get around. With my selection right now I am not sure I could get around lip flap. I do have a few that do but others don't.
*just thought of something*
Another part that plays big is the genre of your video as well. Sentimental videos tend to have a lot of talking. Your using very emtional clips and like most animes they have people talking. Now you could use that to your advantage and post the subs to what they are saying. Other times you just need the clips and not the words but they are speaking anyways. I think for some it can be down right impossible to avoid Lip Flap.
That's my opinion on it.

I disagree, older_gohan, with the idea that sometimes the lip flap is impossible to get around. As you said, you could just use another clip.
I do like your good idea of using lip flap in a sentimental AMV. I haven’t seen too many of this genre that I liked, but I can see how lip flap could make them better, in some cases.
My main problems with the sentimental AMVs are that they usually just try to copy a sentimental scene or story from the anime. If you are not familiar with the anime then you won’t get what’s going on. If you are familiar with the anime then it’s unlikely that a 3 minute AMV is going to have more emotional impact than the anime story itself. This is why my own AMVs, amateurish though they are, are only fun and fan service.
Maybe I’ll try to do a sentimental AMV that creates a new story and uses some lip flap in a creative way as an exercise in trying to better appreciate the genre?
Or maybe I’ll start another n00b thread on the topic of sentimental AMVs and see what other good ideas are generated here on the board

Pray 4 peace! Not an AMV, something you can do to help!
