- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
- Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Fatal Frame II: Butterfly Gashes
Yes sirs.
I've been on this site for quite some time, and have been making videos for quite some time.
Now, I'm finally here presenting something I can say I'm fairly proud of.
It's my first completed avi movie (who needs wmv! BOO!)
It can be viewed here: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=87522
thank you in advance!

I really enjoyed this one. Outstanding pacing and lyrical sync, which is doubly hard to do when working with video game footage (due to its limited nature and increased difficulty to manipulate, compared to anime). The only downside is the resolution; even if it would result in a larger filesize, having a greater resolution would help the video quality. With a source as pretty as FF2, it's a shame to lose any of that quality. Again, I enjoyed this video greatly, and look forward to seeing your future work.

Thank you..truly..thank you very much. I was a little worried no one would give me such an opinon. As to the resolution, I thought if I made it bigger, i'd lose the quality..but I'll certainly keep that in mind for next time! Thank you again ^__^IcyCloud wrote:I really enjoyed this one. Ah, I love Fatal Frame II. I'm one of those horror genre girls - the Silent Hill series is a blast for me, too. So, when I saw you first upload as the "new vid on the block," I downloaded it right away. Unfortunately, I just tried to watch it and I can't play the audio.
Since I'm lazy and don't know precisely where to find the latest codecs, could you please link me to the site? It'd be appreciated. I'll get back to you on the video once I can watch it.

It does contain a large amount of spoilers, view with caution.
As for the audio..I've never had someone run into that problem before.
Make sure you update your media player (it usually has the option in the task bar)
Next option: Head over to divx.com for codecs. It just may help..if not..I'm just as lost as you are. ^__^;

Alrighty, the audio issue is solved for now. I went to the playback guide and downloaded the VLC player. That did the trick, so I was able to watch the video. As for the commentary...
Stuff I Liked
- timing. The video was neither constant cuts, nor long scenes, and it matched the more uncommon 6/8 time signature. It was definitely solid here.
- mood. Fatal Frame II isn't an action game. It's more of a calm, quiet sort of eerieness, with the occasional jump-out-of-your-seat moment. Knowing that, I think you portrayed it well. The song was an odd choice (and sounds a lot like Kittie), but the lyrics matched perfectly.
Stuff I Was Iffy About
- song choice. As I said, the lyrics were great, but the song was a little too rough-sounding for the quiet horror that is FFII. Also, it bothers me that every FFII video is based on that horror, rather than the depressing beauty of it all. You tried to capture both, it seems, but the latter part didn't show through as much.
Stuff I Didn't Like
- resolution. While I agree with Icy, I do have another reason for thinking this. A small too-small resolution - or even a too-large one - makes it difficult to immerse yourself in a video. I don't generally watch videos in full screen for the sake of preserving the video quality the way it is. After doing so, though, I can see how this isn't the best. However, the filesize was nice. I guess that's one good point.
Overall, this was very enjoyable. FFII is lacking many really good videos, and this is adding to that small collection. Awesome job!
