Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

You seem to be the type who views any attempt at pedagogy -- no matter how benign -- as an insult, so I may be making a mistake by saying this. But you may want to check out this guide for iMovie tips:

On opinions: They come slowly. They take time to write (well, they take time to write _well_) and you expecting one within the first couple of days is just ludicrous. 90% of all videos on this site, even with promotion, do not receive such treatment. (Before you say it: that is not because 90% of all videos on this site suck, it's just that it's so big, and feedback is comparatively rare.)

You've stirred up some attention now with your puerile antics. I don't know if that'll get you the feedback you want, though.

End notes.

It's rather easy to be a forum-disruptor when everyone else lacks the ability to think.
And you're going to be flamed relentlessly if you talk that way about others.

You won't get opinions either if you're a jerk. If you're really that impatient, go to the Opinion Exchange forum and post an exchange thread. Read the rules first.

Silly goose, that's the tutorial I used. It told me to compress to Apple Pixlet video. That's what I did, and when compressing, I even chose "Best" for quality. In the end, the quality was bad. I looked for others, and the only other one suggested was Photo JPEG, and the author said she used that one if she was low on space. If Apple Pixlet is supposed to be good, and Photo JPEG is supposed to be not as good, then I can image Photo JPEG would be horrific. Unless you can suggest a better way to compress .VOB files for something that will fit in iMovie, let me know.

How bad is "bad"? Post framegrabs.

Alongside Pixlet, DV usually works quite well. It's designed to work at 29.97fps interlaced, and most DV codecs follow that standard, but there's technically nothing preventing it from working at other framerates: for example, the DV encoder plugin in transcode can work at 23.976fps progressive (weird, yes, but it does work).

Last I checked, iMovie supports DV, so you may want to give that a try.

Your video quality was horrible. Really and truely horrible. I've seen better sights while hanging out at walmart and peeping on the girls changing room just to realize I picked the one an 85 year old grandma is using. And not only was she using it, but she had striped down to her bare skin and was grooving to the store musak. Things I'd rather not identify were flying all over the place and I'm pretty sure that at least once she stepped on her own nipple without realizing it.

The action was pointless and trivial. There was as much depth to the video as an episode of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, there was as much story as the Paris Hilton sex tape, and if Gilligan ever decided to dress in black and pretend he's a ninja I'd bet he would have a better sense of timing than this video.

This vid made me cry. Unfortunately I'm not talking about the kind of crying you might have after you've unburdened your sins and cleansed your soul, I'm talking the kind of crying you have after hitting yourself on the forehead with a hammer just because you were drunk and your frat brothers dared you to until you've actually cracked your skull wide open and suddenly realize you probably did permanent and irreversible damage. It's the kind of cry like someone weeping for humanity. You suddenly realize that not only is man evolved from apes but that quite a few have de-evolved from them as well.

Since you're so eager for an op just let me know and I'll be happy to cut and paste the above into an op for you.

You're so constructive. It really shows how much you know about making AMVs. I also loved how you compared it to everything else. Reminds me of some comedian, that wasn't really funny at all.

good advise, I'd like to add that it doesn't take more than a few minutes to tell the guy what he MAY be doing wrong. I mean I HATE opinions that, say, include TIME markers! WHO CARES!! Seriously, when a thing is released it's rare that the thing will be released again and if so it'd be more entertaining if it TOTALLY changed. No I keep my opinions to general suggestions like 'Read <a href=http://www.a-m-v.org/guides/avtech31/>ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides</a>' and wise cracks. It doesn't take long... many of my opinions are less than 70 words long! Yet I'm sure (when a good 1/3rd of my ops are responded too out of 300+ to vids I just come across whether the creator asked me to or not or is still working, retired, or not) that my point comes through just as clear as some of the longer ones I see that are responded too just because the creator feals the need to defend his work. I've only gotten the basic 'Thankyou for reviewing my video' like twice...

Not that some may still prefer longer ones, just for videos with alot of problems, don't go long and exhaust the creator's eyes, go short, it's easier on the eyes o.0.
