Heh, yea... it's just like assuming that ALL Russian AMV's are teh win by seeing some of the high-ranked work that made it from AKROSS Con on here. Which, of course, is entirely untrue - but that doesn't diminish the value of the individual outstanding authors involved
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

For the AB2005 AMV Panel intro vid, I had 3 日本人 watch a variety of AMVs and MADs - they were equally impressed by both styles.

Also, two out of three thought Vic was Japanese, all were frightened by MJ, and none were impressed by Euphoria.

Or different styles plus Japanese citizenship. It's not the style alone because the creator must be Japanese in order for it to be a MAD. An effectsy vid in a similar style by an American (or Canadian or Australian, or any non-Japanese person) is an AMV according to our recommendation section on the forum. Japanese (plus effects?) = MAD. Anything by anyone else is an AMV.

That said, I've never watched a MAD because of the style (read effects). I have trouble with non-Japanese effect music videos, so there's not much call to watch Japanese effect music videos. But I can see where people would elevate MADs above AMVs. After all, they're the only music videos allowed on the site that aren't considered amvs. We wouldn't call them by a different name if we didn't mean to separate them from all the non-Japanese music videos here. Once you separate them from all other videos, it's natural to question which is better, the 'only Japanese can make these' MADs, or the 'everyone else makes these' AMVs. Discount the 'style', which is not dependent on where you were born, and all it really comes down to is "is the creator Japanese or not?"

Oh, I believe it. Piano and Kaicho went to AWA 10; from what I've heard in con reports, they love AMVs, too.

There's some small print in my last post, though.

When it comes down to it, AMV vs. MAD is just a matter of different styles. I'm sure there are mediocre Japanese editors just as there are mediocre American editors. Do not needlessly put one scene on a pedestal.

I know, but I wanted to see if people like our thread-starter will actually notice it

I'd find them much cooler if the music that they picked wasn't so damn annoying. They all seem to love high pitched girl voices done to techno.

Gaijin Factory consider this guy as a MAD creator, and he/she made a Hellsing video using Sum 41. :o

Then there's another one that did a Melty Blood MAD video using Nightwish.

I'm sorry, but shut up and stop splooging over MADs like they're the best thing ever to happen.

I knew either Paizuri, Otohiko, or dokool would tell me to shut up. Looks like it's dokool this time. Sorry I'm a Japan fanatic dude!

What are talking about? That's just like saying Cartoons and Anime are different styles. They are but which ones better "duh!!" Either way, if they actually used anime instead of pictures, it would still be hotter than most of the AMV's I've seen on this site.

What the hell?! Equality :P It depends on preference on what you think is better... those two amvs have had a lot of exposer to a-m-v.org so it wasn't necessary for this since you can just go HERE in which Recollection, Chaos - around the M@D were listed and other good ones.

x2 write a god damn opinion on their videos then, it'll be more directed to them.
