AMV Commercials
Hello, I was just had an idea and I was curious if either-
A: people were already doing it, as seems to be the luck with any good idea.
B: anyone actually finds the idea interesting.
So anyway, my idea is like putting previews either at the end or beginning of your AMV for the next one(s) you're making. Basically a "coming soon from _______." And you could show small clips of the AMVs and maybe it'd inspire some people to come back and download them when they're done.
Only really negative side that I can see is that it might make file sizes too large, but there are ways around it getting too bad.
Well that's all I'm curious about and thanks for any feedback. ^_^

I don't even know what my past and present videos are, frankly (and in all seriousness)
Granted, if you think that'll be interesting - do it. Myself, unless a video has some wildly original and hype-worthy idea behind it, it's best off to just release it and let people see for themselves instead of downloading extra megs of video to see a preview they might not even be interested in.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

As for only advertisting if an AMV is going to be ~special~, my main idea wasn't for something particularly special to be advertised, but for anyone who was maybe a little less known/had few finished AMVs to get people to come back for more. Well known/popular creators don't need to worry so much about getting people to find out about and download their stuff, whereas lesser known do. . . I hope that made sense.
Ooor, if we're going to be capitalistic about it

You mean like AMV Hell 1 and 2, NES and RVG Projects, and DDR Projects 1, 2, & 3 - except without teaser clips (not including AMV Hell 1's 'none of the scenes shown here' thing)?staces wrote:So anyway, my idea is like putting previews either at the end or beginning of your AMV for the next one(s) you're making. I've never seen any of those, but you're probably right. ^^;; I'll have to look. You mean like AMV Hell 1 and 2, NES and RVG Projects, and DDR Projects 1, 2, & 3 - except without teaser clips (not including AMV Hell 1's 'none of the scenes shown here' thing)?
Basically what I mean is how on Disney movies they have commericals for the new ones coming out, well same idea but with a creator and their own AMVs.

I think that to do this you can post here that you'll give tha preview in the direct link of the AMV... then when you're ne AMV is ul you can erase the preview...
but doing it at the end of the last vid is good too (but like you said, the size will be larger... and the AMV maker who don't have any money will abuse of the system)...

I have enough problems getting people to download my AMVs now, you think I want to basically say 'You know that total piece of crap you just saw? Well there's more of it coming.' I find hoping people forget the quality of my last video and naming my video after women's breasts is the best way to get viewers. Recently I've come up with a new way to ge viewers, I'm going to make the username K00p and Abso|uteDestiny to upload videos in the hope people get confused.

I must say I'm against the idea of having a video previews included with your AMVs. Not only does it increase the size, and thus the time it takes to download (especially for dialup users), but it's also annoying in the same way that those commercials they play before movie previews these days are annoying. Hell, even some video bumpers introducing the creator/studio run a little too long.
Let your work speak for itself and if the viewer likes the video, they'll probably try and download your other videos when they come out.
