I have an idea... hmmm... [including the anime audio]

Post by Opera Phantom91 » Sat May 28, 2005 12:46 pm

Has it been done before to have the entire anime in the AMV not silent? i mean like have the song running and then voices and music of the original anime running too? I'm thinking about doing this with one of my movies would it be a good idea?

Go for it. But Some cons have a rule against using english audio, so think about it first.

I've seen it done both with minor break-ins from the original audio (dialogue-only), which worked, and I've seen it done throughout with both dialogue and music, which came off awful. This was probably because it didn't seem to be intentional, and looked like the editor just didn't know how to mute/remove the audio track on their video source.

In any case, having two melodies running at once is probably not a good idea: the chance that they'll mesh is extremely small compared to the chance that it'll be a total key-clashing trainwreck. As with anything else in AMV, though, if you can make it not suck, go for it.

well i was just think that because i have only clips of this Anime in Japanese with english subtitles, (plus the English voices stink^.^) and so I was getting tired of having to do AMV's that had silent clips but the people could still see what they where saying and people are complaining about the subtitles in my movies **WMV 2 doesnt have a clip option** so i was like hey! why not just let the movie have sound from both song and clip might be interesting...

so yeah

Instead of adding audio to go with your subtitle problem (creating more complaints, I guarantee it), you could try removing the subtitles instead. You can crop subtitles in VirtualDub - a free program downloadable from www.doom9.org (last i looked). We even have a guide telling you how to crop out subtitles - you don't do it with wmm, you use outside programs to do it. You can find the link for the guides on the member main page, at the bottom left.

I've done something similar in two of my vids... both of my earley cardcaptor sakura vids, but the sub cropping is much more palatable...

also alot of times the original audio and music will alot of times clash with the music you chose, so it would have to be done really carefully and timing is a key.

mine was done that way at the end of the music (as it faded out--> and the original audio faded in...) but i have seen several vids do something similar... sometimes it works alot of times it doesnt.

I've already experimented with Anime audio over lapping the music, but I've never made the entire movie have both Anime and Music audio overlapping, like if you see in my first two movies, both have parts where the voices of the characters stand out for about six seconds, but theres no music from the anime comming on when i had their voices, and with this new AMV I want to I was planning on not letting sound get taken out at all... its actual coming along quite well, but thanx for alll your input on this idea. When I get the movie up, you all should check it out, you might be surprised... some of you atleast. ^.^ Thank you again!
