what would you rather [have hits or opinions?]

Hits I really don't pay attention to as often unless I hit like 1000 or something. The number changes too often and like others said it doesn't mean that those people actually watched your video. Opinions on the other hand don't change that often (unless you are super popular) and therefore are really noticable. You are getting to hear what people thought about the video. That's why I think ops are more valued than hits to me. (As far as downloads vs ops I think downloads are a bit important if you want to know if people are acutally seeing your video and general trends about how people feel about it.)

I'd go with ops as well. Hits just reflect how many times the page with the vid's presentation was consulted, right? Not how many times the AMV itself was downloaded, nor whether people liked it or not. Moreover, opinions can help one to improve a lot, and I guess we always can do with that, even if only a little

Hits I don't care about at all. I honestly never look at them and can't even make a rough guess at any of my videos hits.
I'm cynical enough to think downloads have more to do with my anime/music/catagory choices rather than my editing, at least after the initial announcement thread is buried, so I don't get really thrilled about them either.
Unsolicited opinions means my work has resonated with someone enough they thought it worth taking the time to write an opinion so that's a nice, although short lived, ego boost. Solicited ops mean I have a useful op (I only request ops from people I think give useful ops). So I guess I gotta say ops mean more to me although I'm not actually all that concerned with them.

I'd have to say opinions. I don't really pay attention to hits. I pay more attention to downloads and opinions.
It makes me happy to get opinions. Its nice to know that someone really liked it that much to give an opinion. It also helps to know what to improve on if they point something out and it also helps boosts confidence. What I'm trying to say makes you want to make more music videos to have everyone to enjoy more. ^_^ Or I should say encourages us to make more mvs!!

BOTH!
Seriously, the amount of downloads, quite often (at least for me) seems to have nothing to do with the amount of opinions. I have one AMV with about maybe 50 downloads and it has 4 opinions, whereas some that I've made have over 300 downloads and like 2 opinions.
I guess if I had to pick I'd pick opinions first because the more high-score opinions and AMV has the more likely someone is likely to download it. Personally I don't download AMV where the AMV doesn't have at least 3 opinions (so I can see the averages) or if I know the creator is good/they have a lot of good scores already on other AMVs of theirs. . . not that I'm that stuck up about it but when you have dial-up you have to be a bit picky somtimes. =/[/b]

Unsolicited ops are an ego boost but are rarely (In my experience, never) really helpful or thoughtful. If you want ops than you can arrange to get them from creators whose oppinion you respect or someone who you know will put a lot of thought into it.

Downloads on the other hand are very hard to encourage beyond a certain extent. The only real way to get large amounts of downloads is to have a video that people like and gets passed around by word of mouth.Otohiko wrote:For me, the right kind of attention is impossible to measure in terms of quantity, only quality.

I love getting random opinions even if they aren't helpful. If 99% of the people on this site never get a random op, its pretty lame of me to only like "good" ones.
Hits leads to downloads.
Opinions leads to Top10 leads to Hits leads to Downloads leads to Opinions. Its a lovely cycle of internet popularity.

Did I read this right?bloodyhawk wrote:alot of hits or opinions...cause i dont see why opinions are so important its just a review by someone so wouldnt it be better to have alot of hits?
