Forever Young {A Naruto Eurobeat Project}

Post by donte_frazier » Wed May 04, 2005 9:04 pm

My third video (both my number 1 & 2 rank on the AMV top 10%). A Naruto video to the Eurobeat song "Forever Young". Check it out, and please let me know your opinions. :D

Wow, that was pretty good! :)

The beginning worried me, the squishing down isn't very attractive. However the video looked pretty darn gorgeous at most times.

The biggest problem I'll say is the incontinuity of the flashing up to 0:18. You also missed some beats here and there, and most of the time didn't match some of the electronical stuff. 02:32 being the most obvious exception, that looked fantstic to that sound...

But I'll say, the video has a great feel towards the middle and end, and I like the way you used your lyrics. Much of an improvement over your last Naruto vid. Hope you keep up the good work!

Hey Maverick-Rubik, thanks alot!

It wasn't squished though, it was cropped. Dunno if that's what you meant. ;) I thought it came out pretty good, though sometimes I think Naruto might've been composed for widescreen. The next episode previews are always in widescreen (cropped, apparently) and some of the shots in my video just came out too perfect to be a coincidence. But, I digress. ;)

Even though I do own the third season Japanese DVDs (Region 2, without subtitles, not bootlegs), I was unable to acquire (lack of funds) the first season DVDs and couldn't find RAW video files without subtitles for those few episodes, so I was forced to crop due to a few scenes in the beginning. Aw well.

Also, to address the flashing. I'm not sure, but someone said this about my last video, too. I dunno if I'm developmentally disabled or what, but I could swear I got the flashing right on beat this time. But people always tell me it's off. I even matched to the beat spikes in premiere pro...I don't know what I can do now to ever get this right. Oh well...

Nevertheless, thanks for the opinion! I know it's a Naruto video, but I do hope more give it a chance. It's gotten pretty good reviews so far, and I think it stands out from the large pack of Naruto vids on the org, if even a little bit. :D

I liked how you managed to pick the really cute looking Sakura scenes.

Sorry, but you should have waited one or two episodes before doing a random-action-scene-amv. You missed some of the biggest (and most important) action scenes.

And please reconsider putting white flashes on a bassdrum.

Heh, I like it. Upbeat yet not too angsty, and ridiculously catchy.

Good work.

That wasn't bad. My overall impression of it:

Excellent Lyrical to scene matches pretty much throughout. Especially towards the middle and end. You tried alot of different methods of synchage which was good, but sometimes you just stop unexpectidly, which throws off the flow. Some of your beats were just slightly off, which gave it the feel of an unpolished video, more like a almost finished beta. The last thing to complain about is the white flashes, and sometimes the red ones too, they don;t realy do anything for the video like how you have them. if you are going to use them, I'd suggest fading them out instead of just plain cuts. Even better would probably be to play with the contrast/brightness adjustments on the scenes instead, possibly in combination with some other filters like blur, to make some more interesting fades to white than just the plain ones.

Good job overall though, the amount of effort in it shows. even though I may have alot of gripes, you did alot of stuff, and the scene selection impressed me. I'll give it a 4/5

Thanks alot, Bakadeshi. Your reviews are always helpful. I have to work on finding a good alternative to white flashes for beat synching.

Thanks alot for the comments, everyone.
