Have those five contests even started taking submissions yet? :?

What the heck, I'll give it a DL and come back with my thoughts on it.

Theoretically, Ushicon is taking submissions now. Hafta ask Driftpeasant on the particulars, not me (I'm not Ushicon staff, I just hang out with the video head).

I like Neodammerung, so let's check this out real quick...

A lot of timing was missed, aspect ratios were off (Mainly Advent Children amd KH: Deep Dive), and the video quality was bad for a lot of parts. You should go back and correct these things. :)

watch it in normal mode pleaz

Post by MikaelJuha » Wed Sep 22, 2004 11:57 pm

um the video quality works best under a normal window instead of an expanded window, i think the upload scrambled the file a bit since its almost to the limit lol i mean 97.4 mb out of 100 mb limit, its probably inevitable that something might happen

so watch it in the normal window, it works best that way, and yeah its my FIRST video may i remind you, so i wouldn't expect it to be the greatest thing out there lol.

so watch it in the non expanded mode in windows media player pleaz, expanding it makes the quality scrambled a bit, i would know since i downloaded it myself, but as a first vid, its pretty good methinks lol

Most AMV-watchers prefer to go fullscreen, you should keep this in mind and not expect any sympathy when it comes to video score. The upload wouldn't do *anything* to the actual video except corrupt the file if something happened mid-transfer, so that's no excuse.

bad FTPs, or a corrupted video, it must be fixed

Post by MikaelJuha » Thu Sep 23, 2004 2:19 am

I'll do what I can to fix this error, it is a major problem indeed.

So for the most part, I'm already expecting bad ratings, but if you look at the size, 97.4 mb, I'm not sure if that's a problem in relation to the glitchy footage, but I'll try different FTP programs, so far the upload ordeal does "affect" the video in general.

I used an FTP called cuteftp.exe and the upload didn't work, thus resulting in the failure of the FINAL CHAPTERS video which was the same video as Final Chapters. So I've been trying to scrap FINAL CHAPTERS, and I do think the FTP program WS FTP made the file glitchy. The video I upload "Final Chapters" ended up being glitchy when I downloaded it myself, and when I went to check on the file on my desktop, which was the original video I uploaded that I wanted everyone to see wasn't glitchy.

So yes, there can be problems with uploading files. I'll continue to try other FTP programs till this problimatic error is resolved. Sorry for all the problems everyone, but I'll keep working on it.

I'm not seeing any glitchiness in this video, just noticeable macroblocking in parts... :?

But you really need to turn off the DivX logos next time.

Anyway, cool music and cool visuals, but the combination thereof didn't really do anything for me.

a small series set in motion

Post by MikaelJuha » Thu Sep 23, 2004 12:53 pm

Um I'm working on a remastered version of that vid, it will be called Final Chapters 2, and it won't have the cheesey stuff in it i saw or parts that seemed to drag the video a bit, like more footage from games, more synchrinization, stuff like, i don't want it to be some "moderate video" everyone has a preconceived conceptions of since there are a ton of ff7: advent of children music vids out there, and for the most part video game vids have been taken to lightly, this one i can under stand for its lack of footage (even though there is a ton, 7 minutes is hard to fill at times lol) , but i'll do what i can when i can. come to think of it, i'll start a final chapters series, mostly video game and anime footage based vids with dramatic music like Neodammerung(music not really used much in vids) with the whole captions in the begining, and stuff like that, so i'll work on final chapters 2, i might name it final chapters: remastered or something down that line, and plans for final chapters 3 will be set into motion in due time, i just i hope the next one turns out better; which i'm already believing.

I thought it wasn't too bad. Yeah you missed a lot, but you CAUGHT a lot too. Still though, it was very random, and I'm not all that into random action videos. Coherency is my watchword....
