DVD transfers

Post by Blended Herb » Tue Aug 31, 2004 8:44 pm

Ok, I have never used a DVD to make my AMV's, I have always used cd's with DivX and stuff. My friend got the whole Cowboy Bebop collection, and I wanted to use some footage. Now I just want to know if there is something I can download that can read DVD's on to my computer, I don't need to burn them, just put them on my computer. So if there is something I can download I just want to know what it is. If I have to buy it, just let me know what hardware you reccommend.

Thanks in advanced.

you can just copy the vob files straight onto your computer by exploring the disks, most programmes can read these files....
if the dvds are encripted then you need to use more technical methods....

www.doom9.org

download the latest version of dvd decrypter. This program helps put the dvd onto your PC

then download DVD2AVI. This helps to the dvd files into .avi files to view and use with editing.

and lastly, download Virtual Dub. This will help you with some video filters like de-interlacing and brightness controls for your clips that you may need.

And dont forget to download the latest version of Huffyuv, because this is what your going to need to compress your video, not divx or xvid.

If there are any problems PM or contact me.

Cheers

The EADBAG is your best place to get started. If you still have questions, try asking in the Software Help forum.

Just as a reminder, HuffyUV is not a compressor. Also, using HuffyUV clips takes up a lot more space then just using AVISynth, which is mentioned in the guides.

If by that you mean "HuffYUV requires a program like VirtualDub to encode or it's useless", then yes.
