Yeah i'm still working on the audio issues. You can hear crackles in spots where the voices might be elevated. I'm trying to find methods if getting the excess background music leaked in the center channel of the 5.1 audio and making it less audible or not noticable at all. With this and my last 3 trailers before I was pretty much relying on the music I was using to combat the faint background music in the dvd audio. At the moment I have little experience with the tools needed to do that, but thanx for the suggestions Izumi, I'll have to give those a look.DJ_Izumi wrote:This is very well put together, very very well. Two complaints, which are more basic editor issues.Jebadia wrote:Yeah much of the dvd audio was pretty quiet, even the louder parts.
1) The audio mix was extreamly poor, it's like you just slapped the music in and the audio from the anime and let it be. That's wrong, very wrong. Make yourself two different complete wave files of the project, one with just the dualoug and the other with just the music. Use something like Adobe Audition, and mix the levels between dialog and music so as the voice can be heard. This is a trailer, not a music video, the voices get priority, not the music. You can mix the levels so the music is louder when there's no voices and it's turned down for the dialog. That's about 10mins of effort in Audition, it's child's play.
2) The text effects were very static, dispite the dynamic red glow behind them. What would have looked nice would be to have the text move a bit, for simplicity and class simply have the text slowly get bigger or smaller would have been sufficent. When you say the title 'Samurai X' the font is way to small and the text stays on screen for to short a time. A trailer is ment to advertise, you want people to know what the anime is not scrable for the 'Agian' button on their DVD player remote so they can pause and see the name of show because the editor thaught everyone was a speed reader. Finally, you should identify ADV as 'ADV Films', Saying 'ADV Presents' isn't as nice looking as 'ADV Films Presents'. Adding films gives it a bit more class.
The sound mix is still the worst part, if someone were watching that trailer on a DVD, they wouldn't be thinking 'Wow, what a cool looking anime' They would be thinking 'Wow, what a cool looking anime... Hey, did I leave the radio on? Because I hear voices somewhere...'.
as for the titles.....I was lazy, I only spent 2 days on this....but you're right about the ADV/ADV Films bit, I should of taken that into consideration....
Thanks a bunch.
