Am I the only otaku that was not really impressed with anything GITS? I mean, the visuals in the movie were cool, and all, but that's about it.

It's cyberpunk, very much in the vein of Gibson. If you haven't read Neuromancer or didn't care for it, I can see why you wouldn't care for GitS.

That said, GitS is both beautiful and makes you think. A lot. It took me about four hours to ge thtrough it the first time. I watched it, and then spent a lot of time thinking.

I just got it for $36 at best buy today...haven't gotten a chance to watch it but the soundtrack was good listening on the drive back.

Watching it on a large 52" HDTV...

With 5.1 surround sound..

In fact, I've known about that place for awhile. Just never ordered from them though. Everytime I went to get something, it was out of stock
