I partially agree with this and think it's also the amount of dedication to the anime.

I'd say for some it's their artform/lifeline, to others, it's their bragging rights. i think that's what this is mostly about.

I made my first video when I was 17, and now I'm 23. I've been in to this longer than I thought... I'd be considered an old fart in this hobby!

Computer games don't affect kids. I mean, if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all run around in a darkened room, munching pills, and listening to repetitive music~Kristian Wilson, CEO, Nintendo Gaming Corporation

Because most of it is bad and why would a company license a bad show? (this obviously can be debated) Also well...let's be honest, there are tons of fanboys out there who just think anything anime is good -_-;;>.

Damn fanboys. :evil:

I definitely don't fall into the "hardened anime fan" category.

I started making "AMVs" when I was 17, but they technically weren't AMVs because I only used video game footage (Final Fantasy mostly), because I didn't really know anything about anime.

When I was 18, I discovered animemusicvideos.org and was very surprised that there were other people besides me making music videos to stuff just for fun. I had thought I was one of a very small number of weirdos who would enjoy such a thing. ^^;

At that point, I started getting into anime also, because I realized that only using video game footage would really limit the amount of unique videos I'd be able to make. Plus using anime in my videos enables me to enter contests and occasionally snag prizes, like anime dvds, which I can then use to make more videos. mwahaha....haha

Oh, and I'm currently 20.

Will be 26 this year.

Started really doing it a year ago. Age means nothing.

I've been watching AMV's for 4, maybe 5 years but I only started editing my senior year of highschool. I'm 19 at the moment.

I think that age does matter and that the older members tend to be more serious and mature. However, that should not discourage any of the younger members because on down the road you will be the ones with the most experience when others are off having kids (Good luck Phade! :P) and experience is a valuble coin.

I figure physical age only matters in the sense of having more time and paychecks to have collected source materials. 8)

I've never thought a piece of paper (either saying you learned something in school, or saying how old you are) could replace ability or skill to do the deed. It's a starting block, sure, but not the end goal. Enter my vote for "experience matters most", but that some of that also comes from watching hordes of them as well to know what you like in the videos.

And I'm in the over-30, born when we were landing on the moon, range.
