Fruits Basket - My Girl

Post by StarMasayume » Tue May 25, 2004 10:12 pm

Wanted to enter it in Jacon, but I could only go on Friday and not Saturday. *Sighs* Next year perhaps. My friend told me I needed to do a My Girl/Fruits Basket amv and thus I call her brilliant. Centers around Tohru, Yuki, and Kyo. Hope you enjoy! Your comments appreciated. :D

Ah, actually no. ^_^ I started a new amv when this one was 90 percent finished, Super Girl for the live-action Sailor Moon (if you're interested, I'll let you know when I get it hosted somewhere ^_^ - I think it's my best one yet) and that was the one I was having problems with when I was close to finishing it.

I was finally able to get the other one to export without crashing. A blessing really but still unbelievably annoying that I was able to finish My Girl after the other one with no crashing problems whatsover. Just ordered 1GB of RAM today though! I can't wait. ^_^

Thanks for downloading! I hope you enjoy it

Not bad, not bad.

THe song fits fruits basket very well, and the concept works. you matched words in the song to the clips well. I would have liked to see you do more with the sound that sounds like snapping your finger to the song, if you get what I mean. you did one at 0:09 as an example. A weird thing with your lipsync though, Why does the picture jitter like when they talk? Is it intended? I've never seen this before. It was actually quite humerous at 0:36 how his heads bobbing as hes talking. it just looks funny, sorry if its not intended ;p

But anyway seriously, its a decent amv overall, good job ^_^

If you want a detailed nitpick on it, post it in my free ops thread in the opinon forums, and I'll get to it eventually ^_^

Good video! I always thought that "My Girl" had been used in an AMV (it seems like one of those 'oldie but a goodie' song selctions) and then I realized that you were the first. Pretty formulaic concept with Kyo and Yuki with Tohru but the originality of the music kinda makes me look at them in a new and sincere light. A couple odd spots with lip syncing (it looks like you were you just reusing the same bits of footage to get the mouth movements...thus, the odd but funny head movements that Bakadeshi pointed out at 0:36 secodns) but overall a good job.

Bakadeshi I'm glad you thought I fit the clips well. I put some thought into that. I know what you mean about wishing I did more with the snapping. I had wanted to try to do that, but the first time where you mentioned at 0:09 was almost accidentily accomplished and when I tried to repeat what I did at the other parts, it looked akward and just plain off... Maybe one day when I become a bit more accomplished with synching tricks I can try to work the snapping into the visual more.

Ah, the jittering. His bobbing head was my answer to the whole scene bobbing lol. I had to really pick at, extend, and move around the clips from that one, but the problem was that the perspective was keying in... so it looked like the whole picture was bobbing in and out. I still wanted to use it though, so I took a capture of one part of it into paint shop pro, erased his head area, and then brought it over the whole scene after it originally zoomed in. The result was a bobbing head.... heh, which I found pretty funny considering its Yuki. Anyway, it seemed the best way. I did the same thing to another part with Kyo, though I couldn't understand why it was jittering in the first place since that clip didn't zoom in like the Yuki's one did. Thanks for the comments though!

Yeah, ck25, that's why my friend and I were so surprised we couldn't find one for that song! =) It's such good amv-material. I'm glad this one was the first for it. Fruits Basket fit it so well. Ah yes... I just followed the guide by just multiplying and arranging and rearranging the mouth movements. It's definitely not mind-blowing lip-synch, but it worked well enough for the purpose of this vid I think. Thanks for watching and telling me what you think!

Glad you liked it Brain-carnival =D
