Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Was NME trying to comment on it's "crappy unoriginality" or something. I don't get it. :?
Anyway, doesn't matter where you get your ideas from, even if it's an exercise from a book. I've seen those same effects used in tv commercials, why do you think those techniques are sold in a book? Because they work.

Great video btw.

Boss video man, not usually my particular style of vid but for some reason it sold me. I believe all the obvious problems were already emntion but don't let a few interlacing problems get you down, some of my favorite videos are 20x shittier quality that this video.

*Oh God, now I'm starting that  thing without even knowing it*

Ok I, for one, *DO* own that book, and I can say without a doubt that the lesson(s) that deal with the hexagons doesn't even get you 1/4 of the way to doing what you are showing in that screenshot. scaling 10 white hexagons and keyframing their opacity != that screentshot, nor does creating a 'hallway' of little semi-opaque hexagons. Hell the book doesn't even go over how to have footage display on the hexagons or any other still image for that matter. (unless you consider tint and blur to be footage 0_o), So I don't fully understand where you're getting that shit from. And I did a little research and discoverd that Adobe didn't invent the hexagon. Imagine that!!! Hell they didn't even create the idea of rendering a project in 3d space! >:0 But obviously hexagons in a RahXephon video is just so fucking rare that it woud HAVE to be jacked from a book right? RIGHT??

Not that any of that matters, you're snip was assignine requardless. The Premiere 6 CIAB goes over plenty of effects that are used in practically every single video I download. I'm not gonna waste my time pissing all over people based on that.

As for the combing, I agree that it looks like shit. You got no argument from me there. But honestly I didn't feel that it fucked the entire video up... Plus I do understand what would likely be involved in correcting that, and it just wouldn't be worth all the time. Furthermore it's pretentious to even come off like the image quality of your videos is so pristine that anything less then perfect is an insult, and must be disposed of. I've never talked to anyone that hasn't had some form of interlacing in at least one of the videos they've made.

But whatever, that's just my $.02. :P There are better ways of telling someone that you have little or no appreciation for their art than posting belligerent flames in their announcment threads. :o - 'what a concept!'

I think the video is awesome. I don't deny there are minor things wrong with it, but even considering that, it's awesome. I think it's at the very least worth the time required to download it. Easily one of the best AMV's I've ever seen. And the HQ version really does the 3D parts justice.

I like how I make an ironic post about hexagons and no one understands it.
