Lack of Meaning!!!

Post by Crzy_Tetsuo » Wed Feb 25, 2004 11:44 pm

Has anyone noticed the lack of new/meaningful AMV's to come out yet. You know, the amv's that give you goosebumps and say words like wow, or that was neat? I'm not implying that mine do that at all, but when I made them i got those feelings. I've also seen many that give me those nice warm fuzzy (yes fuzzy) feelings. But over the past couple months (and maybe longer and I haven't noticed) there have been a lot of amv's that, although may be good or fit the music, just don't have that extra MMMF that make it great, its like you watch it and say, it was alright, but don't wanna watch it again to give it a review. Is this just me, or is there some sort of conspiracy that i am not yet aware of?

Aww you gotta be joking, you know, like watch an anime, then like 5 years later see an AMV of it thats just awesome which brings back memories of the anime. This is really well shown in amv's that focus on the hits and main parts of animes.

Most of those made me feel like you say.

But I don't think there's currently a lack of anything. BTW, don't concentrate on new AMVs. Just think that you probably didn't see 10% of all the downloadable ones. So there are probably beautiful ones you missed. I regularly find such hidden jewels just downloading at random or browsing old forum topics.

I really don't think so; I have seen quite a few wholesome & good AMV's of late. But generally, I do detect a bit of a growing polarization between 'tech' videos and 'art' videos. Although I'm still yet to see a video that does one without the other, there's still a growing number of creators who choose to wow people with extremes of sync, effects and other technical things, and a smaller movement where editors forego the uber-tech stuff and just try to make simpler, but satisfying and unusual videos. Those that manage to do both equally well are indeed praiseworthy...

Still, it's a matter of looking, and I think there's plenty of vids out there for anyone's taste, and yep - older vids do often bring up long-forgotten simple-but-good ideas.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Yeh your probably right. I do miss tons upon tons of good amvs, and occasionally I do download some really good ones. Maybe i'm just spoiled :?: but it is nice to see some really good amv's, and recently I haven't really downloaded any good ones. Most of the ones i've gotten lately may have good timing, but thats about it, its just a bunch of clips thrown together, and i'm just getting tired of it. But I'll continue downloading, there has to be an amv somewhere worthy   of course there is. I guess i'll start checking out some old forum posts. Thanks everyone!
