I happen to like what I like, so I get to be part of my audience.

I started doing them for myself when I first began, then eventually fell to doing them just to see what others thought of my work.

I should probably stop doing that. :-\

Originally my website was my creative outlet. So, when I first started, I made amvs to try to get people to go to my website (as a sort of advertisement). Then amvs became my creative outlet and I ended up leaving my site in the dust, now my site is set to service my amvs.

I now have Little Big Planet as a decent creative outlet as well. I am not going to be giving up amvs, but since I've no access to my computer, it works for now. I also want to make videos out of LBP though.

My amvs don't have a specific target audience. I tried targeting a video once, and it had the complete opposite reaction... what is wrong with you crackheads >:[

Most videos I make come from the "I like this idea I wanna see it made, and since I know how to do it myself, why bother with trying to request someone else to do it for me. I know no one around here ever picks up requests. Besides, they wouldn't do it how I see it in my head". Some of my videos are requests from friends and family or other requests I find interesting. (There is no other way I would ever touch some of the songs I've used otherwise.) And some of my videos come from "I'm bored, lets slap some crap together and make it work".

I've read comments that my amvs are targeted towards girls, but when I'm working on a video I really am not thinking about how this video better be pleasing the ladies.

However pleasing the ladies sure is fun.. nice bonus.

I (baww..) make most amvs for myself, and I share them in case anyone else out there might get something out of them as well. I also happen to be female, so I suppose some girls out there happen to like the same things as me.

I used to "use" amvs to determine weather or not I'd be interested in a show. So I can see how amvs might bring more people into liking anime. I still do that to some degree.

My target audiences are human beings. I tried editing for my dog once but he took a shit on the carpet and tore up my chair. Ungrateful bastard...

Maybe your video was so good that he couldn't hold it in anymore and then raged afterwards for not being worthy.
