I have to check how the first one came out, but I do want to participate in this one :D

since Nova Extractor didn't liked the Persona 3 FMVs (damn you CopyCat, why it worked for you? :( ) I have to use those .hack//GU FMVs for something, right? lol.

I will search for a song and read more carefully that first post (since I did a quick read lol)

anyway yeah :D

EDIT: oh I have a question, you say no VG music, does that include VG song themes? (i.e like the Utada Hikaru ones of KH or the Crush 40 songs of the Sonic games?). Just wondering if those are labeled as VG music for you

@Crackerz - it's too bad that you can't join (maybe when FMV 3 rolls around, lawlz), but I definitely wouldn't mind you being my other beta tester.

BUT! Just to prove that I'm sticking to the rules I set, I'm still making you follow the procedure I wrote out (AKA: the auditioning). If I bend on one thing, they'll start expecting me to bend on everything, y'know, and the whole "improvement" idea of this MEP is that I give all of the info up front and stick by what I say from the get go. So when we enter the audition phase, be around, love. :P

I'm gonna have to say no to songs like that as well. Basically, anything associated with a game is pretty much out of the question. I realize that this means we're missing out on some great music, but just so you guys know, here's the reason I'm doing it.

Let's say for some oddball reason I put... hmm... oh, let's say I put "Suteki Da Ne" in the project. Then, you just KNOW that half of the people are going to audition for a part of that track with Final Fantasy X. And no offense, folks, but it very rarely works well, and instead ends up looking really corny in most cases. I've only seen it successfully done once or twice. In short, I don't want any game being put to its own music, and denying all VG music is pretty much the easiest way to ensure that.

Believe me, though, I've considered doing a MEP with nothing but VG songs, but the VG Project comes so close to that that I'm not sure if I really want to.

Hope that answers everything for now.

Actually for the sake of clarification, let me ask you:
First, how would you feel about having something like Persona 3 in the project? All of the cutscenes in that game are actual anime sequences. Do you think it would be too out of place with the rest of the tracks?
And on a similar issue, what about 16-bit video games and the like? (which usually had no actual cutscenes or cinematics) Would that be too similar to the VG projects?

Well, I'll admit that anime-styled stuff won't fit as well stylistically, but the fact is that it's a videogame and it wouldn't be fair to keep it out of the project. I mean, I'd have to also rule out equally great games like Chrono Trigger in that case. And what about Xenogears, which is half on the side of anime and half on the side of CGI? It'd be impossible to decide there. So I think I'll say yes to games with anime-styled cutscenes.

On a related note, someone mentioned h-games. Remember that it needs to be .org-able, so it'd have to be a clean segment in the first place. Beyond that, it's a "proof of concept" thing. If the segment was edited in such a way that it didn't look like a slideshow, I'd definitely be more in favor of including those in the project. But if I just get a bunch of stills of pretty anime girls with nothing to expand upon, I wouldn't even consider it.

For 16-bit games and other early generation stuff, it's another proof of concept thing. I'm not fully against it, but I'm just worried that if it's not manipulated in the right way, I'd end up with a slideshow segment there, too.

As for similarities to the VG Projects, I am concerned about that, but keep in mind that most of the segments in the VG Projects used stuff from old games, whereas it'd just be one or two segments in this. I know I can't fully prevent parallels between the two projects, and I don't want to boot someone's great idea just because of that.

And of course, once the song mix is made, you may find that none of those ideas work and you may resort to editing with a "regular" videogame anyway.

Hope that addresses everything.

I call beta-testing.

Pre-emptive response to ultima's inevitable rejection: I CALLED IT.

EDIT: After giving it a bit of thought, I may be able to come up with something involving Dynasty Warriors. That whole "No VGM" thing is pretty devastating, though. :(

SECONDARY EDIT:
