Look, I could care less about the technical issues of this AMV, it's a visual feast at the very least (woot rhyme!)
Loved the plot, and there were some quality filters throughout the AMV, I won't really name any effect in particular, as I think you've used them all very nicely, so overall I appreciated each and every one of them.
Also, very nice song choice, this was defiantly worth the effort you put in.
I look forward to your next AMV, solid 5/5

you are right, i made this video for death note fans and if they love it , then that`s all that matters !..and i think only them might appreciate it ...dazza1008 wrote: Wow, a whole week! (I've been using Windows Movie Maker so I don't know about fiddly high-quality programs) Effort well spent. ^^
Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I really did like the way you did the L cut out. It was unusual, and I think it worked well.
Ha ha... I don't know the comments you've been getting... when I first posted my AMV in the announcements I would get low ratings and silly self-important comments from people who obviously hadn't even seen Death Note. Don't worry, once the initial surge of views from these people is over, then you should get more positive comments and better ratings since it would be Death Note fans searching for it in the catalogue. That's what happened to me anyway.
i only take opinions because i want to improve technically for the sake of my new amv`s .. but i have no doubt that i did my best back then ..
by the way , i liked your " without L " video alot ..it looks great even though you made it with MM .. i think u should make an update and upload it here
i`ll add that to my comment~~~~~~~
By the way, when I first saw the video ( I thought "I'm a Death Note fan, I don't need to read any description" X3) I thought the video was told from Light's perspective for some reason, so L was "the beautiful day", and then when Light was dying he was saying farewell to the world. Whatever you intended, it still works whether it's all from Light's perspective or switches between L and Light.

Thanks ! ... i hope its constructive : D .Hagaren Viper wrote:There were a couple of technical oddities, but this was still a really good amv. It was quite emotional, and it was actually a good SERIOUS Death Note AMV. Those are rather hard to find. Great work! Expect an OP sometime.

I agree - this site is great for technical improvements. And because that's the norm here, just because people suggestion technical improvements doesn't mean they didn't enjoy the video, as a couple of people have already mentioned. The idea and the execution of it are different topics. I think they only mentioned it for you to build on in the future, if you were thinking along those lines.Nariko_sama wrote:you are right, i made this video for death note fans and if they love it , then that`s all that matters !..and i think only them might appreciate it ...

I'm barely able to place clips I want where I want in Premiere, so everything you did is still way beyond me. (starting to use that program now)
You did your best, and people enjoyed it, and you did enough technical stuff to get the approval of those who want that in a video. (cleverly, too) I've read the comments here, and knowing this site, you did get a good response, even though technical improvements were mentioned.
If you want beta-testing for technical stuff, I think some people who know what they're doing hang out at #amv-review on zIRC. Drop in any time, see if anyone's active, ask for a beta testing and post the link. Make sure you didn't already upload to AMV org so you can easily make changes and upload the final video. Only if you want technical feedback... if you just want to 'upload the darn thing' that's cool too.
Thank you for the compliment about Without L! ^^ Actually, it is uploaded here already, but in flv format (I didn't realise you could upload WMV here, so I converted it from THAT to flv... I think I just uploaded it to YouTube and ripped it off the site, can't remember...) -_- Unfortunately I think it's stuck there for good, unless I request a deletion of it and reupload... (I have a link to LiveVideo in the description)

Didn't like this video one bit. The effects were just CHEESY, and the visual quality was BAD (and, as some have already mentioned, it was in the wrong AR). Actually, the visual quality combined with the bad effects was to the point where I actually couldn't always tell what was going on in the video.
The editing was decent, I guess...I couldn't follow any sort of story, but then again, I've never seen Death Note so that may be a part of it. You do need to work on beat sync though...the flashes to the drum rolls were off a lot of the time and it was kind of annoying.
I give this video a 2/5...learn to use non-cheesy effects that actually have a point. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but come on, 0:58-1:04? wtf?

well seeing as I just finished watching deathnote a few days ago, I can safely get this :O

Edit:
I'll go ahead and get the bad out of the way first then get into what I liked about it ^^
Aspect ratio is wrong as many have said already, but let me give you a hint on how to tell for future reference, if you can;t tell from the original source, look at something that should be round in the scenery, such as the soccer ball at 0:26 and the moon at 0:27, they should appear perfectly round if its in the correct aspect ratio. if its squished, as it is in your video, then you need to resize it to the correct aspect ratio. In this case, 512x288 (or 704x396)would've been the correct size.
Your sync is pretty good most of the time, (a few spots it felt like it was off just a bit, like by a few frames) its not really that hard to sync a slower song like this properly though.
Visual quality could've been alot better. Deen is your friend. (check the AV guides on how to use it) could also be your source though if you used low res raws.
As for the effects O_o:
00:59-1:05 = O_o Euphoria copy? Tasteless effect here, totally throws off the mood, would've been much better without any effect here at all ;p
01:10 although not as bad as the first one, this one still feels quite cheesy.
01:33 top of the overlay is chopped off, watch for these little details to make the video feel more professionally done.
02:05 this section here is probably the first major effect that I actually thought fit the mood of the video.
A few of the masks/overlays were a bit rough around the edges, Perhaps try cleaning them up a bit better in photoshop with a faded eraser edge, depending on your method of doing the masks this bit of critique might not be helpful at all though. but not as major a problem as the above mentioned ones.
Your obviously pretty good at making effects, you just need to work more on matching the effects you make to the mood of the song, most of the tasteless ones just don't match this kind of video. And get a good feel as to what is cheesy and what isn't.
I like how you make it seem like Light is actually devastated by the death of L, even though that cold hearted bastid didn't feel a thing in the actual anime ;p
Although I had allot of technical nitpicks, this actually does have some pretty well thought out story telling and mood sync with the song. Good job overall, I enjoyed it despite the issues.
