Very cool stuff, Ben. You did quite a good job portraying the emotions of the characters, as well establishing a solid dramatic atmosphere throughout the video. And I like the alterations you made since the last beta I saw...good work.

Awesome work on both the intro and outro  I haven't watched the show yet but seems really promising after seeing this. You created a good dramatic atmosphere and a good mood. Only thing that bothered was those ''brushes''.. it was fine at first but it was a bit too much after a while.
Otherwise this is probably one of my favorite of yours ;)

Haha lol I wonder where you got the idea for the intro and outro from

Donno why crackers but this for me personally seems to be a collection of attributes of video's/unfinished beta's that have been floating around lately. For originality on FX you don't really work it with me and the concept of the video itself has been a little overdone as it is. But aside from that I did still enjoy it so I guess its justified.

3.5/5

Well that bugged me alot somehow. And moreover the static brushes looked a bit boring moreover the rest of the editing was fitting but all in all the song was to monotone for me I guess I didn't really like the video xcpt for the fast paced beginning with the expanding pianosync that was quite nice. Well at least most other ppl enjoyed it so I guess it's just not my cup of tea. ;)
I suspected thats what it was when I saw people posting about green lines. you need to crop off a few pixels (I ususlly do 4 all around to remove any black borders also) left and right when you use that filter ;p

/downloading.

...
i liked the begining and end of the video, but the griffiti like effects in the slower middle section seemed out of place to me. I think should have left the effects out completely in that part, or switched to a more subtle effect there.

Otherwise, as kisanzi said, the mood and story is all there, its a good drama vid

Interesting how I noticed you started with a similar effect I used for my Haibane video at the beginning, just alot stronger (the circle ripple effects to the piano notes) ;p

oh and fix aspect ratio >.> should be 16:9

It's really good. Very good editing and effects. Specially love that little sequence at the end =D
Intro and Outro, I'm digging.
Instant win
Heh, thanks, I guess. Besides the intro and outro, I really don't like anything about this video, but if you can get something out of, great.
WC Annihilus wrote: Besides that though, very nice job, love the song ^_^

Edit: Aww, I get no mention in your freewebs thing? (even if I did only watch 1 beta and was one of those people who said, "ooh, pretty"
Thanks for liking it, I guess. And you'll be added as soon as I'm done here. My bad >_>

great job crackerz!!!
graffiti ftw lol
Thanks Rina! Glad you liked it when you saw it at ACen, too. When you came up to me and were like, "That video was hot", I was all, "...lolwut?" but whatever, thank you!
Infinity Squared wrote:Should have been widescreen... and yeah, what's with the green line...
Should it have been? I thought the anime was in 4:3; I know the video's aspect ratio is messed up (I don't care enough about the video to fix it), but I didn't think it needed to be widescreen...
Bookmark'd.
Reigna wrote:Awesome vid, Crackerz. This is my favorite of yours, even though you hate it. All the changes you made from the beta were nice, and it was really awesome seeing it on the big screen. Oh nice job on the intro and outro. XD Good stuff indeed.
Thanks Gina! Glad you found something in here to like!
kisanzi wrote:But seriously, this vid is a good drama vid. The mood and "concept" behind it blend nicely and even compliment the story in the anime to a degree. I agree that it is very experimental, the beginning and the end don't seem like the same video, but it's always good to see editors trying new ideas and effects to learn more and improve. Good stuff.
Heh, thanks. I just wanted to have fun making the intro and outro, and I don't really care if they don't fit the rest of the video (because I myself don't think they do, either...). Thanks for the compliments about the rest of the video, too.
-Good for Nothing- wrote:however, these brushes had so much more potential if you would have made more with them than just letting them fade/flash etc.
the way you did it doesn't really do justice to the flow and making them appear in the center rather than on the sides sometimes is a pretty bad idea.
so yeah, I rather like it, although I deem those parts in which you didn't use effects to be quite boring as it really is just cuts on the piano.
encode was top notch tho.
Yeah, that's one of the reasons I don't like the video. The paint splashes do get boring, and I wish I had thought of a more creative, interesting way to integrate them...but oh well, the video was already experimental as it was, so at the time I liked what I was doing. But thanks for the critique, and I'm glad you thought I nailed the mood.
Greggus1 wrote:Otherwise, you know this isn't my favorite of yours. The ideas were all good, but in the end, I really feel you were crowding the screen a little too much, and that makes it hard for me to make an emotional connection to the video. Technically, I love the custom mood this has to it, but I maintain some of my criticism of the beta. You fixed some stuff, but the splatter masks still come off very choppy in alot of parts.
Agreed on all points.
EDIT : You can't spell graffiti
Yes I can :|
FinalResolve wrote:Be careful of aWarpSharp because it leaves that green 'stuff' on the side of your footage.
Is THAT what it is? Good to know, I couldn't figure out for the life of me what the problem was that was causing that damn green line. Thank you for that, I'll be sure to watch out for that in the future ;)

It's ok dude, I pretty much agree. I definitely see where you're coming from and it's all good ;)
Funky-kun wrote:the best part was in the beginning with the many flashing images... the paint mattes were okay at the beginning but they became too boring afterwards... a change would be nice. but i liked the atmosphere.
Yes, definitely, I know just what you mean, it's why I don't like the video too. Thanks for watching though!
omegaevolution wrote:cool vid Sky, the synch was just awesome, specially in the beggining. and Technically... Grafitty is not what you used really LOL (j/k). Well I don't have nothing really to complain, except that I have to agree that the song got a little bored after the first half, but the atmosphere and the mood was good, I could feel the drama.
No..."Haibanebeat Graffiti" is a play off of Kisanzi's video Bladebeat Graffiti, because I used pretty much the same effects he used in that video...even though I didn't watch that video until after I had made this one (I swear). But yeah, thanks for watching it and for giving feedback, I'm glad you liked the atmosphere!

Ah...crapcrapcrap...I forgot to fix that in the XviD...Shit. I'll reupload that somewhere else...And thanks for watching/liking it, Katie!

Yeah, if you like this video you should definitely watch the show. It's a great dramatic anime, and by the end it's just so...heavy, I guess. I agree with what you said about the brush effect being used too much, but I'm glad you liked it regardless!
Niotex wrote:Haha lol I wonder where you got the idea for the intro and outro from
Honestly, I came up with that on my own. I was just playing around in AE, really :P

I'm glad you enjoyed it; actually I'm rather surprised you did, since your standards are so high. But I can definitely see what you mean with everything you said about my effects use, and I agree. Thanks for watching anyway, glad you were still able to find some enjoyment in here :)

Thanks Baka! I agree that the paint splash effects were overused, no doubt. At least you liked it as a drama video, so that's good. In any case thank you for watching and commenting!

Yeah, yours is another video I didn't watch until AFTER I had made this one...so I claim ignorance on copying you >_>

And SHOULD it be 16:9? Am I just being stupid here? I coulda sworn the anime was in 4:3...bah, aspect rarios confuse me

When it comes to aspect ratios, it's better to use your eyes, rather than go strictly by the guides.

It's all about the math! :P
