- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.

I honestly intended this video to be serious. I can watch it as an entirely serious video. The problem is that my animation was pathetic enough to be funny looking. Embarassing. I learned too late that there are things you can describe in fiction, and see in a real anime, that look comical when I try to put them into a video. That's my fault for not being able to portray the scenes well enough. I meant it to be serious, but I know others will find it absurd. So I warned that it can appear funny. I still intended it to be viewed as a serious video. The parody category was marked because it's 'fanon animation' and not real anime. I didn't take parody to equal comedy (if it did, we wouldn't need both categories, right?). ^_^;dj_ultima_the_great wrote:Stuff I Didn't Like
- the parody/serious effect. I didn't know whether to take this seriously or laugh. That really bothers me with a video. I like a definitive theme, and this project just didn't deliver that.
Heh, that's what I decided while making this vid. I had half a mind to make it explicit at one point, but I just couldn't commit. It's fine imagining it, but seeing it - gets back to that 'absurd' aspect.The long and the short of it (no perv pun intended), is this: the concept was awesome, the execution was great, but I'd just rather stick to fanfics. As much as I'd like to see guys banging each other, I'll live with using my imagination.

Thank you! I have two ideas in mind, a genuine comedy/parody (no question of it being serious or intentionally funny), and a lighter drama/romance vid (with less absurd scenes). This was a very good vid to learn from. ^.~So, kickass job. This is definitely an interesting step in a new direction for you, and if you ever decide to do a video like this again, I hope to see it.

I think that was the point. If you expected any less, perhaps you should graduate first grade before you watch another video.

Tch, I don't think the animation style being different from the original was a drawback. I saw it as animated fanart, essentially. Which is very cool. But then I've had more exposure than most people here (apart from you and some others) to fanworks outside AMVs, so it's not as much of a leap for me. I don't expect all fanworks to look literally like the original, because I'm used to fans bringing their own spin to things. So yes, I liked the outlines. :p
I don't know where I stand on the parody/serious spectrum. I was mostly trying to figure out what was going on in some of the sections, since I haven't seen any of these series. ^_^;
So that was cool. Different. Different is good.

Additionally, it was computer drawn. I can hardly draw stick figures with a computer. And since you're planning on doing this again, you can only get better.
Alright, then I take back my statement.TheUnlimited wrote:I wuz trying to be funny..it wuz supposed to be one of those... "oh .. gayest.. haha, i get it.."

That's just how I was looking at it. If I'd used fanart mixed with the original anime footage, I would have wanted the fanart to look more like the original - so the two wouldn't clash. That's tough for me to do. So instead, I redid the original to look like my fanart. ^_^ That way all the footage matches.SarahtheBoring wrote:Tch, I don't think the animation style being different from the original was a drawback. I didn't once consider how this video would appear to people who don't know the anime, so there's probably a third option between the 'comical' and 'serious' ends. Maybe an 'okay, that was different' middleground. ^.^ Thanks for watching it.I don't know where I stand on the parody/serious spectrum. You'd think so, but no promises on the quality of the fanart itself. Mostly I expect the editing to improve - the more experience I have with drawing footage, the more footage I can make, the more room I have to edit 'normally'. ^.~Flint the Dwarf wrote:And since you're planning on doing this again, you can only get better.
