One of the few instrumental videos that I've enjoyed. It had a nice atmosphere to it; the feeling was quite similar to the dramatic portions of the game itself. The radial wipes and hue changes towards the beginning felt a bit out-of-place, but it picked up momentum nicely towards the end. Overall, a short but likeable vid.

Ends too abruptly. Makes me ask ...and???? Pretty darn good editing, though.

Bui - Heh.. yeah it does.. I actually wanted to add some more at the end but it just didn't come to me the way I expected(and the very last bits of the song didn't help me either), I'm always contemplating on my outros- or endings that is.. and thanx for being honest. You should check out my "Tempting" vid though.., I think I did pretty good for that outro..

Icy - Thanx for the resp. Icy, I'm glad you enjoyed it and found it overall interesting and enjoyable as far as a short instrumental AMV goes.. :)

Pretty good man. There is definately something going on between the music and footage that's darkly atmospheric, and I like that. Good choices, and overall good editing. I can tell you took your time with it. As far as personal taste, I felt that some of your editing was maybe too fast/cluttered given the song's speed, but that's just me I guess. I can definately see most people liking this though.

Wow. Two videos in two days...that's a personal note actually. What I mean is, I've seen two videos to games that don't get much attention within two days. That's very refreshing.

Anyway, I'm a huge Silent Hill fan, so I've been waiting for some more good videos to be released from that series. You just answered that wish. So...

Stuff I Liked
- the editing style. Your timing was right on, and even the little beats got a light accent to them with an effect somehow.
- the resolution. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal to most people, but I'm getting really sick of ginormous resolutions that go clear off of my screen. The size you used is absolutely perfect. That's what I like to see.

Stuff I Was Iffy About
- the song. I could see why you picked it. It did have a mysterious feel to it that lends itself to Silent Hill 2. Still, it was almost a little too upbeat for the game. Either way, you handled it well, so I'm not that bothered.
- the horizontal flip effect. You used that several times throughout the video, and I just didn't care for it. To me, that says "hey, I ran out of footage, so this is how I improvised - by repeating it backwards." It's a personal preference, really.
- the hue changes. Like Icy said, it just seemed out of place. Maybe it was because of the colors you chose. They were brighter than the rest of the video, and that may be what threw it off.

Stuff I Didn't Like
- the less-than-original footage. Besides a few scenes that I know are from certain parts of the game, your video looked a lot like the opening remixed. Granted, it was a good remix, but a remix nonetheless. So, my point is this: I wish that the cutscenes weren't the only thing you had used. I love the story of that game, but most of that story only comes out during the ingame scenes. So, nice editing, but I wish that the scenes hadn't been quite so generic.

I do have one question about an effect you used (which I liked, by the way.) At about 0:46, you went into the section with James in front of the mirror, staring at his own reflection. For a brief moment, you used an effect where you blurred each face, one after the other. Now, either that was an insane coincidence to what I'm thinking of, or you planned it really well. In scenes - and especially promo videos - from SH2 (and the third game, if I remember correctly), they often blurred and distorted the faces of monsters, to add to the dark surrealism of the game. In that brief moment of your video, you did the EXACT same thing to James and his reflection. It was almost creepy. But cool. So, I have to ask. What that planned, or a brilliant coincidence? Either way, I thought it was cool and really added to the feel of your video.

So, uh...long post. Longer than I intended, but worth every word, I think. Overall, nicely done and I hope you'll think of doing more Silent Hill videos! I would kill for some good 3 and 4 videos.

As always, Farewell, Good Luck, and Happy AMV-ing!

Uh...I'm really sorry about the weird triple post...

My computer was totally crashing for a while there - just as I submitted the post. I was worried that this might happen, so I apologize for it.

I think my system is okay now. I hope...

Ultima - Thanx for your long and cronstructive criticism, I always apreciate it and you made some very good points that even I feel almost exact about, that were good or that could have been better as far as certain scenes and what not..

But either way I'm proud to have pulled off something diff. or somewhat original if not entirely.., although you are right about it being somewhat of a remix of the actual intro itself, but yes.. it was entirely based upon the fact that there was very little FMVs to use, and not only that but alot of them had excessive talking by the characters, in other words if I had used them it would of had them moving there lips to nothing but instrumental music... :?

So yeah.. you can defintley see why I didn't want to use those, and it made almost perefect sense to use the footage I did have since the song was so short - but don't let that fool you, b/c it was still very much a hassle to put together and create a story centered around Maria as the antagonist in as sense..

Aaron - Thanx for your input, and yeah I also see what you mean, I had little time with that actual song, but I feel as though both ways about it, one I wish the song could have been longer, even just by 30 sec. or so, but on the other hand I'm very glad b/c I was losing sight as to what I wanted to do with the AMV as a whole.. either way I'm glad its done.. :)
