So leik... this is the probably only the second AMV of yours that I've watched. That's what you get for using anime I don't know. >_<

Anywho, this video was weird to me somehow... I know, calling an FLCL video weird is like calling you an editor (duh, of course), but this was weird in a different way. A good way - and then the title of the video hit me like a battering ram. OH! Only the Ordinary! That's why it's weird! No crazy stunts, no tangible love story - just a lot of the regular happenings in the anime, with a few interesting moments during the hard-hitting parts of the song. And that's neat.

In its own way, it's a very relaxing video to watch. This might be because of The Pillows, which are clearly made of win (and by the way, I don't recall this song being on the OST, although it may have been). However, watch the audio quality. It gets distorted in the parts with a lot of bass noise. Video quality was damn good, particularly for the anime.

Overall, this is very nice. Not positive if it's a keeper, but it's going to get jotted down on my grand list of awsm AMVs for sure. Well done, Sky.

It's been awhile since I watched FLCL, but in any case, it's been stuck in my mind ever since I first watched it.

I believe the best quote for FLCL is made by Gainax when they said that FLCL "will be the first anime of the 21st century."

Anyway, this video helped remind me of what FLCL was all about when it first premiered in the sheltered United States. A bored boy in his boring town kind of reminded me of myself at the time. The setting and characters are almost enough for us to relate to.

Yeah, yeah, lots of people are complaining about that, but given the limited footage I had to work with because of my concept, I did the best I could with what had.
omegaevolution wrote:I would have liked more beatsynch though, sometimes the AMV was a bit static. Errr and well I don't tend to compare but yeah this is different from Fista, but I still preffer Fista better.
Well duh Fista's better :P

Yes, I have, and it never really impressed me (I like Megamom's "Scientist"/Lain video way better).
vinylvengeance wrote:I have to say I enjoyed the video. I have a weekness for the more dramatic AMVs, which tend to tell more of a story, or even go so far as to bring a message or concept through the song and the footage. I think you achieved a dramatic mood that flowed nicely with the song. The use of footage was well done, and I liked how it really showed the "coming of age" story that was always below the surface in the Anime. I always have thought about exploring the more dramatic part of FLCL, as there certainly was some depth in the story in that regard. But you pulled it off nicely. Your timings are good, you don't overdo the use of effects, and I think it all ties together. Good Job!
Hehe, thank you very much. And here we have yet another way to see the video - a coming-of-age story, which is not what I intended at all, though it makes me happy that you got something new out of it. That IS something I intended, or at the very least expected. Thanks for checking it out :)
darthgamer wrote:Am I the only person that finds amv's made with songs from the anime's soundtrack irritating? Not that it ruins the video or anything, it just bugs my brain because I already associate the music to the show before watching the amv. Good video overal catching the drama aspect of flcl.
Yeah, I know, I feel the same way a lot of the time, and this was something I was kinda iffy on when I started the video, but the song just could not have been any better, so I just went with it. Glad you still enjoyed it.
godstriker88 wrote:My favorite FLCL video now Surprised It must have been tough to edit the calmer scenes, all the FLCL videos I have watched up to this point, barely had any. Loved it, great work!

I'm curious, is it possible to do beat sync like the ones you had at 1m 9 seconds, in WMM? Or do you need an editor with 2 video tracks?
Thanks! It wasn't really that tough...FLCL actually has a LOT of slower, more dramatic scenes in it...I'd even go so far as to say that the majority of FLCL is drama. AMVs just tend to use the crazier, more whacked-out stuff because it makes for a more appealing video most of the time.

As for the sync question, you'd have to have an editor that has multiple video tracks :/

Hehe, it's cool to hear someone say that depicting ordinary happenings works in an AMV...because usually it doesn't :P But that was definitely my goal, and I'm very happy you were able to see and appreciate that aspect of it.

As for the song...for one thing, it WAS on the OST (the third one, anyway), but I got it from one of The Pillows' studio albums (Fool On The Planet), which I came across in a used CD store last year. The distortion is supposed to be there, and the song is a straight CD-rip with no edits except a cut at the end. So...however the audio sounds, is how it's supposed to sound.

Thanks for watching Jen, glad you enjoyed it!

Yeah, when I made this video it was specifically because I felt exactly the same way Naota did. I wish the anime had expanded on the concept a bit more, but that still remains one of the reasons I love the anime so much - it reminds me a lot of myself. Anywho, thanks for checking it out and leaving an op

Thanks Falcon. I don't understand the music lyrics either, so don't feel bad :P And the story is basically about the main guy and girl being bored in their town. Hopefully you can figure it out from there. Thank you for watching and commenting!
