Sentimental?

Post by devilmaykickass » Fri Feb 11, 2005 12:11 am

I was just curious...how does one classify a video as "Sentimental"? Like, what does that mean, exactly? o___O

No, that's for 'piano keys'
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

having the dramatic progression or emotional effect characteristic of a play
Drama is more intense, and has more conflict. Sedimental is softer and more sad.

Drama has a much broader scope of emotion. In my opinion, Sentimental works more on the "happier" side of drama, like romance. However, it can go beyond romance. Memories Dance for example is sentimental on the level of nostalgia and tribute.

That's just how I see it - nostalgic. ^_^

A video I'd call sentimental is one that creates an emotional response tied to memories. It's touching, whether it's sad or happy, or just dramatic. To me, sentimental is dependent on the viewer. I can watch a sappy romance video and if it doesn't touch me - if I have no connection to it that evokes a nostalgic emotiona response - it isn't a sentimental video.

I guess I could link that to the horror category for videos. For some people, anything dark is horror. For others, it has to evoke fear or unease in the viewer to be considered horror.
