[Journal's Preview]

Post by [Mike of the Desert] » Wed Jun 06, 2007 2:04 pm

Hi Guys. :)

I was thinking.. Is it a bad idea to put a "Preview" Button while posting a Journal Entry?
One similiar to the forum's.

I'm giving this suggestion because by myself I'm really "Perfectionist", and when I see that the Journal I've posted is completely messed up,
I just put it Private "Testing" it again.

I don't know if there are more people that'd like this implementation, but Imo it can be really useful.

Just a "Plus".

I think it's pointless.

Think about this. After you click submit you're going to reread it and then notice the mistakes and have to do it over again. Why don't you just type it, THEN reread it and fix it, THEN submit it?

I mean, it's not really that hard...

No, you didn't understand what I wanted to say. =)
Here's an example:

Intendo dire che quando scrivo senza poter vedere un'anteprima c'è il rischio che la formattazione del testo sia deformata.

That somehow get me crazy. =\ Seeing this result in a Journal, I put it Private, then I repost it like..

Intendo dire che quando scrivo senza poter vedere un'anteprima,
c'è il rischio che la formattazione del testo sia deformata.

I'm not talking of grammar errors.

I don't see how the formatting matters...but if it annoys people that badly, maybe it will be a good idea.

I have to say, I'm a perfectionist too, and I've often wished for a Preview button. However, my version of Firefox has an automatic spell check in it, so I don't usually find that to be a problem anymore. I could see a preview being useful in formatting.

While I would have pressed for this feature prior to using this version of Firefox, I have to admit - I'm pretty indifferent now. Convenient, but not necessary.

I would LOVE this feature.

I'd use this feature as often as I use the preview button in the forum. Every time I post.

Is it needed? Probably not. We don't get complaints about not being able to edit the journals because we can hide them instead. If we did get complaints, an edit button would be obligatory (just like the forum - you don't need to edit your posts if you preview them first).

I did it because it was reasonably easy, but note that for the next couple of weeks I won't be able to change much on the site because I have some other commitments.
