  • Comments: My first video for public distribution!!!

WARNING!! This video does contain brief scenes of blood and violence. If you are really sensitive to that, you might want to skip this one.

This is the second video that I ever made. I can't remember the exact inspiration for this video, other than hearing the song on the radio, and having visions of clips that I thought would go good with parts of the music.

Once I sat down to begin plotting everything out, I got the idea that in a lot of ways Perfect Blue is kind of "trippy", as it is a little hard to keep up with at times, and there are moments when you are not sure if what you are watching is "real" or imagined. I tried to bring out that angle as much as I could in this video.

The basic concept is that there are two ideas going on through it (the imaginary and then the confused :P) and then the video sort of wraps up Mario Bros. 2 style. (Ok bad analogy, but it's the best I can think of right now :D

Shortly after making this video I had a hard drive failure, and lost EVERYTHING that I had, including the final version. Luckily, a friend of mine recently informed me that I had given him a copy of the finished video a while before the crash that I had forgotten about, and that is the ONLY reason I was able to get it out here :P (Thanks Jim!)

Ultimately, it was a lot of fun to make and I hope you all enjoy it. Please leave any opinions you have!!

    Technical notes:

-Footage from original American release of Perfect Blue.
-Music came from a full version uncompressed .wav file that I edited for time due to the amount of clips I decided on from the 80 minute movie.
-The original footage was converted to a DivX .avi file for editing (retarded in retrospect)
-All editing done in Adobe Premiere 6.0
-MPEG created via TMPGEnc using AbsoluteDestiny & ErMac's guides. (The lowish quality is due to all the dumb stuff I did before hand ;))
-Black bars were added to the top and bottom over top of any effects to avoid having the effects (zoom, white outs, etc.) from looking ridiculous over the videos original letterboxed black space.

-Added a direct download link. You have to right click and save as or it will try to open in the browser.
