Hello,
Back when I was in college, I was inspired to make some AMVs. I think I did pretty well. I used Ulead, which was apparently less popular than Adobe, but I found it much better to work with and has many advantages at the time, including it would work with divx, but adobe could not, but that's apparently changed since, but Ulead is just better to work with in my opinion.
My videos are all slightly older, as you can see by the release dates, but still quite good. I use mpeg-2 when I encoded them, which apparently on some computers doesn't keep the audio and video sync'd up. My vids (where it applies) do have proper lip-sync, its just sometimes if the video doesn't run right, it looks like I am just off horribly. (this doesn't happen much, but I thought I'd make the disclaimer, I don't like false critizism :P ).
With my vids i try to isolate one (or a couple) character and show just them the entire vid. Like my Evangelion-Shinji Bond, only shows Shinji and his EVA fighting, not any of the others. Or my Belldandy Road, where I worked hard to keep the scenes of only Keichi and Belldandy and leaveing Skuld & Urd and the others out. Also, my vids (where there are lyrics) heavily follow them. The story told in each lyrical song I represent through the anime.
