I live in Utah in the U.S. Yes, I am LDS, and I'm proud of it.
I'm a senior at Weber High this year (go '04!). I am planning on attending the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs when I graduate, I am also planning on serving a two-year mission for my church then, too. I'm really into computers. I can't think of anything else. I'm seeing this really awesome girl named Echo. I'm lucky just to know her. Anyway, I don't know of anything else you would want to know, if there is, you can always e-mail me!
My friends and I like to play Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Unreal Tournament, and a bunch of other games. We're always having LAN parties at some one's house. We're all really in to computers and stuff. That picture was taken up at my friend Cole's cabin at Bear Lake, Idaho. Well Idaho-Utah border. Anyway, we have monster LAN parties there that last a couple days.
I was first introduced to anime in December of 2002. Well, I guess it wasn't anime per-say (or however you spell that), it was Final Fantasy. Most of my friends were avid Final Fantasy freaks, always playing the games and always talking about them, and I just stood there and was confused. Then at one of our parties, I decided to try one of the games. I had watched my uncle play FFI on the NES when I was about 9 or 10, but other than that, I hadn't really seen them before. The first game I played was Final Fantasy X on the PS2, I loved it. I played it all through the night and got up to the blitz ball game, after that I didn't play again until my other friend got a PS2 for Christmas. But instead of FFX, he got FFVIII, other than the graphics, I found that game better in every way. That is the game that got me hooked into Japanese-influenced entertainment. Not having a Play Station, I did the next best thing, I got an emulator and stole my friends discs. In a week I had beaten Final Fantasy VIII in 50 hours. I was so addicted to that game. Then I went right back through with a strategy guide and got all the stuff I missed and beat it again.
Now that I think about it, actually Princess Mononoke was the first anime I've seen. I saw that a while before I disocovered the Final Fantasies. After FFVIII, I moved on to FFIX, it wasn't as captivating as VIII, but it was really enjoyable. I think the reason I got so hooked into anime and stuff was because it was a means of escaping the real world. At that time, I was really depressed and down, and anime gave my life meaning and adventure. Ya, it sounds pathetic, but at least I admit it. Anyway, after FFIX, I borrowed my friend's Evangelion DVD's (the friend that had FFX - his name is Cole, actually they weren't his, they were his brother's). I absolutely loved those, and I was instantly hooked on them. Ofcourse as I got deeper into the series, Evangelion got really dark and depressing, and so did I. I still like anime, but I was amazed at how it could change me like that. After that, my friend (who had FFVIII - his name is Thomas) and I went to see Spirited Away in theaters. I really liked that movie, too.
That was about February or March (whenever Spirited Away came out) ever since then I've been trying to emmerse myself into more anime, but to no avail. I think mostly it is because during the summer I had a job, and then I met this really cool girl, so in other words, I don't have a life that I need to escape from, but I still love anime. I've been trying to watch as much anime as possible by paying as little as possible (I know, I'm a cheap skate), I should just start renting them, but I never find the time.
Well that's one reason why I really like AMVs. They let me get a glimpse of anime without having to spend money, although I really believe I will contribute to this site as much as I can, because I really like the cause. Also, I just love how you can see so many different scenes put to so many different songs.
