  • Profile: Just another Otaku.

My first anime that I remember watching was Sailor Moon. It was immediately followed by DBZ. I was still living with my mom and dad at the time, so I was younger than I remember. Years of Fox and WB dubs ensued. I still did not know them as "Anime" yet though.

I would have to say my turning point was in 10th grade (3 years ago). I was wandering the lunchroom because well, at my high school the video gamer/cartoon person was well... non-existent. Or so I thought. And I ran into my friend Nick, Who I hadn't seen since early middle school. He was sitting next to Danny. Thank you Danny. He pulled out his anime magazine. and from there it started. Thanks to him I learned what anime truly was. Although he still is stuck in days of manga with almost no DVDs, I don't forget him and lend my treasure trove.

I have to say though, that what turned me from mild fan to OTAKU, happened when i was browsing my college early Junior year. I ran into TAS (Terrapin Anime Society--University of Maryland's Anime Club). they were giving away T-shirts for answering anime trivia. I was blasted. people went by me winning first try, while I sat there for hours retrying over and over. I eventually got the shirt, and departed in ignorant shame. My sense of desire and my new found source of income (job) led to a massive constant dose of anime. and here I am.

as for my AMV career, It started back with Danny. His magaizne had Final Fantasy Unlimited Detailed in it. I immediately set out to acquire it. (methods will not be mentioned... I was poor then). When results came up for the show, there was also a smaller movie file, I had no idea what it was. But it said FF:U so I downloaded. It was the first AMV i had seen. After aquiring the first 4 eps of FF:U, and seeing this AMV, I heard a Linkin Park song and set out to make an AMV. naturally, Like all begginers, I used what was available. Windows Movie Maker.

That AMV is not posted because... well... it sucked. Even in my opinion. there were some Nice timings, (miraculous they were), but transitions were non-existent unless naturally in the clip, and flow was etchy at best. It was nice for a first, and at the time, when I hadn't done better, It was good. It impressed Danny and Nick. (2 years ago)

As I got more of the series I made more. my second was Trapt. watch it. Then I finally finished the series. now with a full understanding of the character relations, I set out to honor my favorite charachter as he was meant to be. Shiroi Kumo. I spent more itme on this one, and did much more micro work, so for WMM, it was damn good. I finally update windows and got version 2. I liked the new more professional options available. Then I began watching FMA. as the photo shows, I'm hooked worse than a catfish. I had to honor Ed. So I made my fourth AMV, Sacrifice.

Hoping but doubting its winning potential, I submitted it to Otakon, for this would be my first con, Otakon 2004. when I got the call from the head complaining about the divX logo I was horrified. Then He told me it was one viewing away from being a finalist. I was ecstatic. this was my 4th AMV. Although I didn't win, I learned alot about making AMVs that I didn't know at Otakon's panel. And through means I don't know of, Adobe Premier Pro was placed on my laptop. So I am now using premier, and my first AMV with this uber capable, but ultra-complex software was Racer. Now I'm just trying to get the hange of premier and After Effects so I can maybe actually make a video with A digital effect...

Thank you VicBond007. Your AMV guide is my Bible.
