K, so now that I've composed myself...
2008-08-04 21:36:02
So there's the logo about which I said the following:
"In AMV.org logo land, I actually came up with a design this year that I really like. Unfortunately, just like I always do, I went off on a tangent and the results are more befitting an AMV.org t-shirt than Web page. HA!! I'd say it doesn't match the rest of the site and therefore doesn't stand a chance, but there have been quite a variety of logos over the years and that's not really a valid argument. "
Apparently it's NOT a valid argument. :D
The version of the logo I entered is not the version that I originally created, however, which simply had "animemusicvideos.org" running through the middle in large, white, lower-case type. I decided against entering THAT version because I knew folks have an affinity for the AMV acronym and felt compelled to oblige. In retrospect, though, I kind of wish I hadn't. Maybe it wouldn't have had to be squished to fit on the site, if I'd left in the words. Oh well. I should have fixed it up and refined it when I had the chance. That'll teach me. :|
I will say, I'd rather this logo won than the others I entered, even though it was the least logoish of the bunch. I wonder what people are going to think when they open that Illustrator file? Did the admins lock up the pieces parts? There's some stuff in there people could have a little too much fun with, if they got their hands on it and decided to tweak the logo. *downloads file to check* Whoa...they left all the little notes and things open to people to edit. Oh boy...heh, well, banner-maker heaven, I guess. I wouldn't know, I don't make banners. I suppose I should make ONE, though. :)

Have you ever been *this* close to telling someone they need to sit down and shut up, or you're going to sit on them? Seriously. I made a semi-vow not to take a certain individual by the throat and throttle them, if for no better reason than I know it's pointless and will do absolutely no good, but right now my fingers are twitching and I don't know how much longer I can bite my tongue.
Bah!! Saying nothing is almost tantamount to a) condoning such behavior and b) not standing up to someone. Which I don't do well.
*types inflammatory thread post* You know, I am trying very hard to be nice and this would come out better if I was saying it in person, but I've got to work with what I've got and this keyboard's about it.
*hits preview journal post*
Holy Crap. IT'S MY LOGO!!!! *dies*

AX Box!!
2008-08-02 19:28:19
Today the box arrived with my awards from Anime Expo. I get home and it's sitting on my porch, a rather large, rather heavy box. So I gleefully tear into it, picturing who knows what, since my Anime Boston award was rather large and heavy and if there's TWO like that in the box...then that would explain the large/heavy part.
Turns out I get lots of stuff for winning two AMV awards at AX!! Who knew?! (not me!)
- Kodocho DVD1 w/ season 1 box and bat bag (I forget his name)
- Four patches
- Two Naruto figurines
- Three Naruto card packs
- Naruto card collection binder
- Naruto card sleeves (see a pattern, here?)
- Kodocha bat bag (yes, I wound up with two)
- Cyber City DVD collection
- Grappler Baki DVD
- Ayane's High Kick DVD
- Elemental Gelade DVD
- Tenchi Muyo GTX Collection
- World of Narue DVD Collection
- Cromartie High School DVD
- DBZ Season 5
Plus two AX AMV awards, now on the shelf beside my AB award, all buffed to a high plexiglass shine.
This is a lot of stuff. Oh yeah, and FOUR t-shirts, two from AX 2007 (what the heck is that all about? I participated in 2008, not 2007...why would I want a 2007 t-shirt??), one Yu Yu Hakusho and one Astroboy. Two shirts are way too big for me and the other two are just too big for me, which means they're all relegated to pajama status. Which is bad, because I'd like to wear at least the AX shirts around, but I can't - they're HUGE!
I wasn't expecting this extra stuff at all, nor even awards, because no one else has sent me any awards - are they supposed to? I guess I would have two coming from Tekkoshocon and one from Sakura-Con, if that was the case. I don't know. I still haven't gotten an answer about what "Staff Favorite" and "Special Judge's Favorite" mean from AX.

GRRROWLLLL and other random statements.

"im realy sorry but i dont know why your order never recieved. Maybe it get lost on the delivery. Pleas conatct Amazon to take the A-Z Guarantee. Ther you will get your money back. Im realy sorry for the trouble."
AKA I'm not going to get my transcontinental CD shipment, and I'm guessing I'm not going to get my money back either, so that means the likeliehood of XII being made just got closer than ever to zilch.
Ah yes, Takeout went over like a lead balloon, so it looks like I've got another non-winner on my hands, here. I am just not cut out to be an AMV editor...can I throw in the towel, now?
Just watched Advent Children again and man, it totally killed any desire I had to make more AMVs with it.

Logo contest is getting nasty. It's like there's got to be drama around here about EVERYTHING. *sigh* I do wish folks would refrain from personalizing discussion of the designs until after this is all over, though. I like to think of the logo contest as a kinder, gentler, more equitable version of the VCAs, starting first and foremost with the fact that it's theoretically anonymous. I do not WANT to know who made what, or even who made anything at all. (So far I'm pretty sure I know who created four of the six finalist logos - not to mention having a pretty good idea about who made which ones - and I'm not even TRYING to figure it out!) There will be plenty of time later to claim ownership of this or that logo if the creator wishes to do so. Hrm...I forget how that's gone down in previous years...*goes to investigate*
Oh yes...I forgot exactly what I was going to say, so this will have to suffice:
My new 'Bustin banner does not contain a misspelling, even though I'm very much aware that it contains something that's not a proper word. Way back when I made my 'Bustin announcement poster, which parodies the Ghostbusters movie poster(s), I rewrote two lines: "They're Here To Save the World" became "They're Here to Save The Planet" and "The Supernatural Spectacular" became "The Superunatural Spectacle." In the latter case, one could I took the "u" from one word and moved it over to the other.
I very much appreciate this presumed mispelling being brought to my attention by a kind samaritan, because if I had made a mistake I'd be falling all over myself to fix it. Instead, I'm just going to tweak my banner a teensy bit so if anyone does notice anything odd, they don't dismiss me as a poor speller. God forbid.
*thumbs up to the good samaritan* The Doctor gave me - in a roundabout way - some good news. :D
