Christmastime
2006-12-25 12:02:23
Merry Christmas everybody!
I got me a 160 GB hard drive...that makes a total of ~400 GB of space on my computer now...w00t.
Don't have much else to say right now...and I have more presents to open later today. Maybe I'll get some more sweet stuff.
Hope everyone has a really nice day!

I got Lain last night
2006-12-21 15:53:51
Oh-ho man, did I get a GREAT idea for a Lain video today, while I was half-asleep in bed. I was thinking of AMVs, and how I should implement some creative, unique techniques into my next video, and wow, did I come up with something awesome. Of course, my execution of it probably won't be very professional, but it's the idea in this case, and I think it'll fly. Not divulging anything more...you're just going to have to wait until after the video I'm going to start working on now, which is also a Lain video, albeit slightly less original than the one I have in my mind.
Can't wait ^_^
...Speaking of Lain, am I the only one out there who saw the series as a satire? I mean, yeah, it was incredibly dark and more than a little creepy, but I think in the end it was meant to kind of mock our over-reliance on technology, and how some people get so into computers and games and such that their perception of the real world and the way they act in it is affected by their technological obsession.
Of course, there were a helluva lot of layers to the series, but since the first episode I couldn't help but feel like Lain acted first and foremost as a satire, rather than a psychological drama/horror. Kind of like Paranoia Agent, although Paranoia Agent was much more blatant in that sense.

Greg's right again
2006-12-17 13:06:02
I gotta agree with you there, Greg, as well. My Figured Out video was by far my favorite video to edit, and is still in my opinion the best video I've put out, but according to the community that's downloaded it it's merely average :/ I've learned to not really care so much about star ratings and opinions and such...they're fun to get, because it's cool to know what others think, but the most important thing is to have fun making the video.
I also agree with you about the "art" videos...except those are fun for me to make, too. I love editing in general, and even though my simpler videos are my favorite, the techy ones are still a blast to edit. I can't watch those as much when I'm done editing, though, because ironically they're usually not the kinds of videos I like.
So basically, if I'm having fun editing a video, that's all I care about. The finished product isn't why I edit, really. It's the actual editing. If I like the video at the end of everything...well then, that's a nice bonus. That's not to say that I don't edit with the finished product in mind, because I obviously do, but the most fun part is the process.
Ok, I think I've repeated the same thing just about enough times now.

Hoooome
2006-12-15 15:19:23
You know what's a great feeling (at least, for someone who doesn't think very highly of themselves when it comes to editing, like me)? When you go to someone's profile that you've never talked to before or even seen around the forums or anything, and see that one of your videos is in their Top 10 list.
Anyway, I'm going home today, 'round 6:00 my time, and I'm pretty pumped. I actually think maybe I can connect this computer to the Internet at home, but I'm not really too optimistic :/ That's ok though, because I spend way too much time on the .org as it is, and we have another computer at home that IS connected to the Internet. Actually, the only reason I'm going to all the trouble of bringing my desktop home is so I can watch some anime DVDs I've been neglecting, and of course so I can start editing one or more projects over break. I can't tell you how excited I am to start; I have all sorts of ideas floating around right now.
I don't really have anything else useful to say, so I think in an hour or two I'll start packing my crap. I have a lot I'm gonna take home, so it's best to start early. Alrighty, I'll see you guys later.

Most def

I'm definitely with you on this, Greg. Not just AMVs, more like the .org in general. I use it to procrastinate so much, and I attribute not only my low grades but my almost complete lack of a social life to this site :/ Thanks a lot.
