Chrono Trigs
2007-01-04 03:33:00
So today I started playing Chrono Trigger on my computer (thanks to emulators, and gamepads for the computer!), and I'm hooked. I'm only like three hours in, but man, it's really fun. I wonder if I'll be able to finish it...the last RPG I actually played all the way through was Deus Ex (if you count that as an RPG) back in October of 2005...I have such a short attention span when it comes to video games. Before that, I don't know what the last RPG I played all the way through was. So hopefully I'll be able to get myself through this one...I really enjoy it now, but who knows how I'll feel about it in a week?
The only thing I don't like about it is it's really full of cliches and plot holes, but that's to be expected, especially from an early Square game. That reminds me: if any of you are RPGers (and I know several of you are) and you're bored one day, give this a look:
http://www.project-apollo.net/text/rpg.html
It's a long list of cliches and inconsistencies you'll find in almost any RPG, and it's really cool. Sometimes it's funny, but most of the time it's just really interesting because it's so true. It's long, but very entertaining.
Hmm...so according to my computer's clock and the clock on my VCR it's 2:30, but that doesn't seem right...I thought it was only 11:something when I came down here, but I was probably wrong...it was probably 1:something. Sigh...
I'm thinking I'll start on my next AMV soon...next week, perhaps? I have to prepare for it, though. It's going to be another Lain video, but it's going to be extremely unique. At least I hope so. So...I think I'll go play Tribes 2 for a little bit now and then some more Chrono Trigger, and then off to bed. So, nighty-night .org.

Looking back
2007-01-01 17:58:22
Well, everyone's doing it, so I might as well tag along.
2006 was a really good year for me. School-wise, I finished high school. I probably didn't end it nearly as well as I could have, but who does? Senior year is mostly just going through the motions anyway, and it was a fun way to end it. I finally got around to asking out my current girlfriend back in April. We've been dating for almost nine months now, which is a record for me, and it doesn't look like we'll be breaking up anytime soon. I also made a lot of friends last year and had some really good times with them.
Summer started on a really low note with the death of my youth pastor the day after graduation. It was extremely depressing and really hard to get through, and some of us from my youth group are still feeling it.
Summer itself went by relatively smoothly; nothing exceptional happened except for my second mission trip to Taiwan with my youth group, which was by far the best two weeks of my entire life. I hope I can go back, because I've made some really cool friends there over the month that I've visited, and I really have a passion for the place.
After that school started up again - my freshman year of college. And right after moving in I discovered the .org, and have made some really cool friends over the three months that I've been here: kikai, Yeiweh, Bauzi, Greg, aerial, Kaxi, Krisqo, Yue...I'm sure there are people I missed, and I apologize if I did. But I love you all regardless, and this site has really made my year at college enjoyable, while at the same time making me completely antisocial. It's ok, though. I really love anime and AMVs and everything about this site, and I couldn't be happier for having come across it ^_^
College has passed without anything particularly interesting happening, except, of course, for my mom's hospitalization and subsequent operation; if anyone missed my last entry, she's doing fine and will be outta the hospital tomorrow ^_^ Thanks again for everyone's support.
So yeah. I'm excited for the new year. In fact, I've been working on an AMV the past week and a half and will probably release it either today or tomorrow. I think it's pretty good...eh, we'll see. It was fun to make.
Oh, that reminds me: thanks to Knowname's thread in the Site Suggestions forum, I've decided to make my own simple site on which all of my video information will be posted. In addition, I'll probably get around to reviewing my own videos there so my points won't affect the overall opinion average of any of my videos. This will just make my video info pages a lot less cluttered and anyone who really cares to read all the shit I write can just click a link to look it up on my little site. I'd give you the link now, but the site's not fully set up yet :/ But thanks Knowname for making that thread. I appreciate it ^_^
Oh, and I finished up Eureka Seven this week...wow, that's my new favorite anime. Definitely recommend it to anyone who likes romance. It's an incredibly emotional series.
Alright, well peace out everyone. I'll catch ya later, with the link to my new video ^_^

Update:
2006-12-28 19:58:47
First of all, I want to thank everyone who responded to my last entry regarding my mom...you really have no idea how much it means to me that you all care. I'm honestly touched, and you are some really good friends. So thank you very much for your thoughts, support and prayers. I love you all ^_^
Secondly, my mom is a-ok. The surgery was rescheduled like twice, but it went just fine. We were at the hospital all day, and she's in the Intensive Care Unit for her post-op treatment. Should be out of the hospital in a few days. It was a slow day; I was sitting in the atrium of the hospital for like four hours. I'm at home now and I'm very grateful for all the prayers and support everyone's given...thank you all again so much. I really can't thank you enough.
Gonna be a rough few weeks, I imagine, but we're through the rough part and that's what matters.
^_^

Well, I had an interesting day today. My dad woke me up at 11:30 and told me that my mom was in the hospital. I was like, "...Why?" and he said that she had to take some tests and wasn't going to be able to drive home so I had to go with him to grab the car. So we went there and my mom wasn't done with her tests yet, so we waited until a nurse came and got us. We went into my mom's room and a doctor was with her, and he told us that she has to have open-heart surgery tomorrow - it's a double-bypass operation.
o_O
That came as a shock. I'm honestly not worried about it at all; nothing's telling me I should worry about it, but that may just be simple naiveté. Either way it was quite surprising, and it sucks. But I'm not depressed about it or anything...still prayerful, but I don't feel like I need to worry.
*Sigh*
Well, dinnertime. Or something.
