Everyone needs to drop what they're doing this instant, and go watch Kino's Journey. Download it, watch it on a streaming site, buy the DVDs, whatever the fuck you have to do to watch it, do it. It's 13 episodes of pure, unbridled brilliance. The genius of the anime is how every single episode hooks you in some way, but it leaves you guessing until the last two minutes. And by the end of each episode, EVERY loose end is tied up. The viewer is left wondering NOTHING about what transpired, and yet the interpretation of the symbolism, the message itself is left entirely up to the viewer. I have never before seen an anime do what Kino's Journey does so flawlessly, and for thirteen episodes straight without missing a beat.
Seriously, best anime ever.

So today when I was at a stoplight driving home from the mall, by myself, I thought I felt something brush against my leg inside my pants. So I started getting these visions of a cicada crawling up my pant leg (they're everywhere where I live), and I started to get really freaked out. So I felt around my leg and as I did so I heard that sound cicadas make (that loud, annoying chirp). And I felt around more, and found the thing, and squeezed it a little, and it chirped again.
I flipped.
A firetruck was going across the intersection, meaning the light would NOT CHANGE TO GREEN, and I couldn't stand it anymore so I just pulled down my pants in the car at the stoplight and drove home in my boxers. It was gross, disgusting, freaky...I HATE these fucking cicadas. They're literally EVERYWHERE.
I got home and shook the cicada out of my pants before I even got out of the car.
Ugh. Now I'm paranoid that whenever I get in the car there's gonna be a cicada by the gas and it'll crawl up my pants.
