  • working the guitar solo 2003-08-19 15:32:39 Well A few more hours of work put in and a few more seconds of footage to so for it,; it was a good night. I constructed most of the fight sequence during the guitar solo, but having one fight after another did keep the tension I was looking for. So tonight I'm going to splice up the fight sequences between two or three of marine's action scenes. I'll need to toy around with it a little before I'm find what order works.

I've come to appreciate non-linear editting more since starting to make AMV's. I had make some student films on Media 100 systems, but didn't have loads of footage to work with. But with AMV's their so much footage to work with that I can set up multiple video tracks and try completely different ideas; test all of them, and keep only the one I liked. Or keep them all and look at the ideas 'fresh' at a later time. Well I'm going take a walk and get a slushy. Later all.
  • re-working a scene 2003-08-18 16:38:58 Last night I went back over the "black girlfriend" Saber AMV. I listened to the song for close to an hour to get the feel of the song again. I started working on the guitar solo rifts about 2/3rd into the song. I had a series of scenes lined up before Otakon, but looking back on them they didn't keep consistencey with the first 1/3rd of the AMV I already had. So I started back at the big fight scenes with Marine (in Saber J Plasmatic Crisis). I put in a couple of hours last night, and have visuals for 3/4th of the guitar solo. The last 1/4 has a quicker pace and heavy guitar, so I have to amp-up the visuals, and I'm toying with the idea of splicing between two fight sequences and break the tension during the heavy guitar solo, before the lyrics come back. Well hopefully I'll put in a few more hours tonight.
  • recoverying from Otakon 2003 2003-08-13 16:23:25 Otakon 2003 was my 1st Otakon and 2nd anime con (first being Anime Boston). I had fun, met some cool people. took lots of pictures. I passed out about 200 video cd's with 4 of my AMV's on them. Three of the AMV's are here on AMV.org, the 4th is Beast Wars to Mortal Kombat so being non-anime I decided not to uploaded to stick to the rules.

I had been working on AMV No. 5, "Black Girlfriend" to Saber J. It was about half done before Otakon, and I hope ti get the 2nd half done now I'm back.

Oh and while at Otakon I went to the AMV panel (which was cool, insightful, and entertaining). I learned I need to use WAV files as my audio source if I want to make contest submittable stuff, so I'm goint to open up my completed AMV's and re-do the audio files. All the source material is still on my hardrive, (NEVER delete anything till you are 150% done, and never want to touch the video again, or there was something about saving the filesa as MPEG-2, )

So I've got a few technical things to tweak further, and then get back to my AMV work. I've got another 3 or 4 AMV ideas kicking around right now, but want to finish the work I've already started.

Well later, oh and this blog is mainly going to my technical stuff, my life story is located on Xanga.com but its under a DOS attack right now, so check back later.
