  • away from the AMVs for a little bit 2004-09-07 18:25:55 Well I've recently come back from a trip to Ireland (very green and friendly country) . I got the Sandhill Production website back online about three weeks ago. I'll be linking copies of the AMV's to my AMV.org account. But it's going to take me a few weeks to get that all set up.

I've recently been distracted by my aging Muppet Show tapes. My dad recorded most of the orginal Muppet Show off TV. I've started to digitize them and burn data DVD's of them as high quality mp2 files. I'll then convert the mp2 into DVD authoriable format and make DVD's to enjoy for my own..and some friends.

But I figure I wont start on another AMV till after Sept maybe October, depends on how the job continues to go.
  • Otakon 2004 return 2004-08-03 21:27:54 Well I was hoping to see B.O.B. air at otakon 2004..however, the AMV people didn't have a list of the AMVs. They apologized at lot, I can feel for them on the technical side, but it did hit me that, to get a rough list of the AMV's, might have one if they were making DVD's to to play the AMV, what ever program they used, if they saved the DVD's project files (makes it easier to burn additional; copies if the first one breaks), the program would list the AMVs, and someone could write them down. I didn't need to know what exact time my AMV was airing, but to have know its the 3rd screening and not the 5th..would have made it better.

However, instead of speading my entire time at otakon watching AMV's..which I could have done, if nort for my other plans. I instead set up shop so to speak in the connecting walkway. I suited up in my Macross Plus pilots outfit again, and held out my "Test Pilot will work for Fuel & Ammo". and proceeded to handout 450 Video CD's to people over the three days. I handed out all 450, most on Sat. I figured Sat would have the largest attendunce, so more pictures and thus more CD's being passed out.

One person i gave the CD to has already contacted me cause their not able to get the disk to play. I replied to her telling her it suppose to work in a DVD player or computer. DVD Player just pop it in and press Play or #1. For a computer its trickier, if you have software for playing Video CD's it should work, there are also Video CD players that are free for download..but it did work on my system. I've got several codexes and video players installed in my machine..I need to do a wipe and re-install just so I can clean house (But not now). I had burned the Video Disk using Nero Express..Nero 6 I bleieve. I've made Video disk in the last few months that work on my DVD player, my dad's, and my friends. So I'm certain they'll work in a DVD player that plays Video CDs. Buit in a computer they might not work..I fear..but then it could be just my system being screwy.

On the up side, I just uploaded "My Black Girlfriend" and its all set to be downloaded. I also got some things squared away with the Sandhill website, I'm hoping I'll have the server issues resolved in the next day or so. i want to get the site up before I head off to Ireland for two weeks.
  • almost done with "My Black Girlfriend" 2004-07-24 01:56:05 I've put a few more hours in this week..mainly 2 hours a night the entire week. I've got all the scenes editted..I'm in the last tweaking stage. I ran off my first test AVI, the videos ok..I noticed a few dropped frames I'll correct in the morning..but I need to tweak the pacing on some of the scenes.

I sad news..Bombs Over Belgistan..my entry to Otakon 2004 AMV contents..did NOT make the final judging round. I was soooo hoping I could get in the Noice catergory. I'm not shaken..Once I've finished "My Black Girlfriend" I wil start to burn about 450 video CD's and give them out to people at Otakon. Last year my rule was anyone who recognized my Cos-Play outfit (same on this year..see my profile for a clue), anyone I took a photo off (hey who wouldn't want a free CD for having their photo taken), and anyone who took my photo. Last year many people were surprised at me giving out CD's..its shameless self-promotions..but i also figure its a way to share the AMV experience with people who might never met you.

last year I actually ran into one of the 13 people who had downloaded "Aggressive Bebop". Small world..even in anime.

Well I need sleep so I can get back to work on my AMV.
  • Black Girlfriend coming along 2004-07-15 22:02:12 Well I've got 90% of the clips filled in, I've done a little bit of tweaking. i still need to lip sync a number of scenes, and jason thinks I need to tweak some stuff back to the orginal version. Some times the 1st time is the best.

Well i decided to buy a bunch of CD-R to give out at Otakon again this year. I'll be cosplaying as a Macross Plus pilot again..Veritechs just rock. But I'm think of handing out 300 to 400 Video CD's this year. I'm going to put B.O.B., Black Girlfriend, Agressive bebop Updated, Fear the Curse Updated, Packin' A Spare Space Cowboy, and A Tribut to Dinibot. The last one isn't anime..but its kick ass, the video quality is poor cause I was working off VHS I taped off TV, but I've got the first two seasons on DVD, and the Third comes out at the end of August.
  • been working as an engineer and part time as AMV maker 2004-07-07 13:28:44 I'm working 40 hour weeks, and managing to re-master "My Black Girlfriend" in only a week's time so far. I'm 75% done grabbing and placing clips. Once I've completed that, I'll start tweaking and getting the lip sync and timing all square. I think I can have it done before Otakon. I temped with the idea of passing out CD's again at Otakon, this time with the re-master "My Black Girlfriend", Bombs Over Belgistan, and the updated versions of "Aggressive Bebop" and "Fear the Curse" I made for Anime Boston. I'm still planning to re-master "Aggressive Bebop", "Fear the Curse", and "Packin' a Spare Space Cowboy?" but they'll have to wait till after Otakon.
